I actually dyed it purple, because that's my favorite color and I've been dying to have bright colored punk hair since my teen years. It just looks very pink when it fades.
I think it allows them to express parts of themselves without the psychological pressure of everything they've been conditioned to believe is "acceptable" via a human image.
I also think they do it because we, as humans, tend to revere animals.
I also think they do it for the challenge of designing something that doesn't really exist in our world, but making it look comfortable and fit in.
And I also think they do it for the hell of it.
Oh boy. Well I grew up with Sonic the Hedgehog, and if it weren't for that I wouldn't even be drawing furries. It greatly influenced my style, though it may be slightly less apparent now. When I was a young, impressionable teen, I got on the internet and started my deviantART account, and many online artists have had the most influence and inspiration to me. shinigamigirl, uriko44, enjoipandas are still here on FA. Many of the others are no longer online.
Ohh maaan I want all the pets. At some point across my life I want to have owned:
many fish tanks (mostly bettas + tankmates)
an axolotl
a bunny
rats
another dog (possibly sheltie?? probably mutt)
My favorite to own are cats. I'm just a cat person. Rats are very sweet, but I've only owned mice.
I am stupidly in love with my betta fish right now, of course with fish you aren't just raising the fish, but the tank itself, the plants, ect.
I kept bettas all through high school but I knew NOTHING so I kept them in < 1 gallon unheated, unfiltered horrible """"betta keepers"""" with no ornaments to hide in or anything. The oldest one might have lived 9 months, usual lifespan was 3. Then I found out they can live up to 6 years.
So when I decided to get a new roomate (mice were complained about by parents for """smell""" which was mostly just parents not liking mice), I made sure to set him up real nice. I keep my roomate pet right by my work desk, so I interact with them several times a day (combats loneliness and depression on a small level). I can tell if he's feeling stressed or sick so if something's wrong it tends to get my attention.
