I shall try to do a Nanowrimo as well!

Depends on when the Camp Nanowrimo thingy starts. Last year it was in June or July.

Camp NaNoWriMo? Hadn't heard of that. This is just Cava challenging me to do fifty thousand next month.

Yeah it's by the team over at the "official" Nanowrimo HQ. Apparently it took place already this month and closes tomorrow :P The "official" Nanowrimo is usually held around November.

What... what is that?! O_O

NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month if you prefer, is used to describe both the global event by the same name that started from America (thusly called National instead of International) and the act of doing so itself. What is the act? It is to write 50 000 words in a month. So a small book / novel if you will. Does not need to be perfect, does not need to get published. Main thing is that you write and perhaps get that story you have been planning all these years finally out of your head.

Looking at roughly 1,613 words a day, or about seven pages a day. So NaNoWriMo is also a good way to see if you've absolutely lost your mind and common sense. :P

My NaNo project from five years ago is still unfinished. >.>;

I would lose my mind if I tried to do that. My brain simply doesn't function well enough and reliably enough on a set schedule like that to actually manage doing NaNoWriMo. Which is why (among many reasons) I don't attempt to do writing except for making some money on the side. I go days without writing anything and then pull an all-nighter when inspiration more or less drags me off by my collar and I -need- to get ideas out of my head and onto paper. So days of nothing and then 10k+ words blurted out in an evening. It isn't reliable however, and trying to force the issue (at least for me) just results in stilted, painfully uninspired content.

That all being said, I hope that you share what you write, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

I'm very much the same way, and it's probably going to end up godawful. XD But, once it's done, I'll be able to go back to it eventually and iron out the finer details and pull it from awkward sounding to decent sounding.

And when I'm thinking about just giving up and hiding for the rest of the year, I'll just remember that last sentence.

I see this too often with fanfic writers...*sighs* I can't write unless I have a muse or some sort of inspiration for it. I've got more than enough drive but if i force it, it all reads shitty to me and I hate that.

Well, even it turns out like hell, it'll be written, and I can go back and rebuild it to what I want. :)

I could never do that, though good luck! I enjoy rereading my work, but I never like to rewrite anything once its written down because it never fits right with the rest afterwards to me. XD I know, i'm weird.
