Curious question...

What flaws do you see and hear in this fandom?
I do have a lot flaws I've over the years when I joined.
To name a few: A lack of care, all about the porn, sharing the same respect they show you, and appreciation of your work.
I know most of the people that have most of these, but I can't do anything about that.

The responsibility of ones employment doesn't rest on the community, the government or small businesses. It's the responsibility of the individuals. I consistently see the hardest workers grabbing jobs left and right while the jobless are always the ones who spend the most time blogging about how they're jobless.
It's got to change now or this fandom will be screwing itself worst then it already has. Members of the furry fandom should be supportive with each other and discuss proper job-seeking techniques rather then finding ways to place blame on eveything but the individuals seeking jobs.
Even my roommate, who hasn't found a job for two months, can't stop spending hours in casual skype conversations but also can't start searching for an employment agency. This pattern is consistent and the greatest cause of financial hardship. It frustrates me to the core.
About personal flaws, my biggest flaw is I consistently am silent about my needs to the point that it leaves me in great sufferings. I try to avoid being an inconvenience to others and in that process I shortchange my future by leaps and bounds.
Most of the changes involve communication. The said person(s) might not have Skype,YIM,AIM,FaceBook,Twitter..and maybe only one of them which is here on FA. FA isn't supposed to be for chats yet most use the note thingy and you miss people's postings. How about when nobody replies for a few months and then you tend to wonder what's going on...but yeah, you get the idea.
Another factor is conventions. They aren't the same as you have a flood of younger people come in. Back in the days everything was layed out but now even with the young ones coming who will soon be adults at some point just don't know what they are getting themselves into. Another thing to top that is that people from all over just come and sit in the game room all day long. Others go to many cons then complain of money loss in their bank account and can't pay bills. Then it's selling their fursuit or anything else they have that can boost the income. If you can't afford to go to a con then don't go! Always have a budget handy so you don't overspend what has been saved up.
I've seen more furry porn these days such as here on FA. Most of the great artist we had left a few years ago when something went kabloey with the AUP and TOS so they left. There still is some art around that's good and also tons of fursuit pictures which I adore.
Lastly the youngins under 18 hiding in our fandom like Marty-O said. Many kids will lie about age and still get in. Kids these days are sneaky when parents aren't around as they get online and surf furry porn here on FA. This is a problem and some will or will not admit it.
There could be more yet this about sums it up.
That being said, I feel a lot of the 'imperfections' are just that: 'imperfections'. You meet several different kinds of folks, you make close friends, you make acquaintances. Along the way, you decide which people you'd rather talk to, or hang out with.
I've always treated the fandom as a way to meet folks, and by doing so, I've learned more about myself and others as each year goes by.
As I've gotten older, I noticed that as we have more and more distractions from technology, it's gotten more and more challenging to find that happy balance between digital life vs. real life with people. It's very easy to let that cloud our judgment, or dictate what is right or wrong. I'm sure there's a lot of issues folks have, but that just means I don't hang out with certain individuals if we can't see eye to eye on things. I try not to focus on things such as "What is the biggest issue furs have", because again, each community has their own quarks. I just choose to spend more time with people I relate with better. If they can't understand, or aren't willing to learn certain expectations that myself and others I agree on, it's not worth my effort and time.
In my career, I work with students need guidance through these social rules. At this point in my life, that's more than enough time spent on handling the desire to improve peoples' lives. Perhaps since I am older now, I probably have different needs that younger furs need. So going back to your original question, my answer is the only difference the furry fandom has between all the other communities is the way we decide to feel about ourselves based on how we PRECIEVE what others may think of US.
Case in point: I don't quite get why people have to get all bent out of shape worrying about what 'mundanes' think of us, which in turn, makes furs develop bad habits. Maybe it's comparable to conservatives trying to go out of their way to make non-believers become believers. Just be yourself. I've always much rather do that than try and prove my self-worth through a hobby/lifestyle that very little people truly understand. Why this leads to things such as laziness is just an excuse to try and rationalize ones' shortcomings. Just because you "can't find the right friend" doesn't mean you suck as a person, it just means you either a) desire to make self-improvement happen and b) haven't quite found the balance of taking advice vs. understanding your own philosophies in life.
Change is a scary, very stressful thing. Perhaps the desire to get lost in the fantasy world of anthropomorphics is an easier way to cope with the shitty things about reality, and thus this leads to vices, such as lying, regression, and laziness. So the real question is this: Do humans suffer more from fear, or laziness?
I hate it when furries put themselves on a pedestal above people, like furries could never do no wrong.
The reality is underneath all that fur we are all still human, with human flaws... no layer of fur is ever going to change that.
