Worried.. And need advice/reassurance..
In two days I board one of 2 planes to go to BLFC in Reno.. And I have 2 flights on the way home.
I've flown in planes ever since I was 2 years old, and it's always been an adventure.
Lately I've gotten to where I don't enjoy flying as much. You feel like cattle instead of a customer.
The real concern I'm having is this is the first time flying with a fursuit, and after hearing the horror stories of lost fursuits, I'm taking it in my carry on bag.
Except Fu Manchu's head doesn't fit. I plan on carrying that as my personal item in a drawstring laundry bag.
The thing is, the head is so big it may not fit in the overhead bin or under the seat, and it doesn't squish like a foam head.
I guess I'll just wear it if it doesn't fit in the storage available..
Any feedback from anyone who has flown before and carried their fursuit head?
How receptive is TSA security and the flight attendants?
Follow up: I did some investigating, and his head will fit under the seat or in the overhead bin..

What are you carrying the suit in?
There are some forum threads linked there. I've never traveled with one, but imagining it, I can't stress enough that you want it in a solid container with lots of padding!
You may want to invest in a cheap or used hard sided equipment case.
Airlines are required by law to compensate up to $3000 for lost or damaged baggage. If you check the bag in you can ask the rep at the airline for an excess valuation of up to $1700 over the $3k.
Typically this costs you about $10 per $1k additional coverage. Check first, It varies per airline.
Reps will look at you cross eyed because it means more work for them. I've flown with some camera equipment much larger than would fit in the cabin and never had a problem when I've declared 'excess valuation'.
