Dead Kitten's Update: It Turns Out...
General
It turns out, i owe my cat an apology. I now realize why she was sitting in the rain, staring at the bushes containing her dead kittens; She was grazed by a car. When we moved her into the box, to nurse the lone survivor torn from the mud, she yowled. But we had attributed that to having just given birth. Turns out, her right leg and tail were run over, dislocating her femur from her hip. I had to let her tear apart my arm, to pop her leg back into the socket. But now she is putting pressure on it, so we know it isn't broken.
The nightmare scenario is, she was going into labor, made her way back to the house in the rain, was stuck by a vehicle; and crawled thru our hedges, while giving birth at the same time. And the proof of that was found today, when i went to feed the cats this evening. One of them had dragged a maggot riddled newborn kitten carcass out of the bushes and onto the porch; a reminder of how much we fucked up.
Our mistake was, we treated this pregnancy with a little more freedom. We let her go out to her hearts content and now i have to live with two memories. Saving a half dead kitten from the mud, and having to bury its siblings....The kitten is doing famously, btw. You would never know he went thru an ordeal. He is a fat, healthy, and a mouthy little thing, named "Lucky". Its just boggling my mind; when i pulled him from the mud, he was as cold and dead as the others. But he shot to life before i set him with the others. You would NOT expect this was the same kitten....Anyways, his eyes are opening and he will soon find; he has three siblings, while a few year's older than him, still play like kittens themselves. So at-least he has a social structure to grow under.
Btw, i put a sign at the end of my street:
*Yes, all our cats are spade and neutered. Support your local shelter

And that sign! O_0
Glad to hear that Lucky is doing well and doesn't have to grow-up an only child/without siblings.
This has been quite the ordeal the three of you have gone through.
So, how's your arm doing?
boy with that title I feared the worst...
I have a "Bones" as well, He was found as a kitten in my back yard and had a surrogate momcat nurse him back to health. He's now a Bonecrusher (though originally he was named for Deforest Kelly's character)
