Have you tried a system restore?

Or try this, go to Start and run and type in c:\netsh winsock reset (hit enter)

Then restart your computer.

Worked for the start up menu. Tried to see if it would let me open facebook and went back to DNS problem

... Do me a favor. This is gonna sound dumb. but open your task manager. go into the processes. look for whatever Chromes code is and end it.

If your still having problems my Momma says to reboot your computer and hold down the F8 key until you get a menu and then choose repair computer and it should turn the dns on for chrome or firefox or IE it will ask you to reboot say yes. And when it try to go online and if the problem persists then you need to put the operating system disk and reboot your computer and when it comes up this time it should say press anykey to boot from dik and follow the on screen instructions it sould repair the dns problems ok sweetie.
