There are MANY viable alternatives to Wacom these days, some of which are BETTER, not just cheaper.

Need a cheap portable Cintiq and don't mind it being clunky? Get a used convertible Fujitsu laptop/tablet. It has a real Wacom system inside. Years ago, I spent many hours over a Fujitsu T4220 doing the electronics CAD work for  RGB_Raccoon. They're quite cheap now, as are its predecessors and successors.

Then there's the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 - its display is much closer to the writing surface than Wacom technology allows, so there isn't the annoying pen/screen misalignment that occurs with a Cintiq. Some of the models have specs that match an Ultrabook laptop.

Admittedly, my use is CAD not art, but let me put it this way - if I won the lottery, I wouldn't jump and buy a Cintiq - I'd take a good look at the alternatives first; some are just that good. (Of course, I could then buy both and give you the one I didn't want! ;o)

In short, investigate the alternatives!

Just checked *praises his luck that the Discount page wasn't behind work firewall* Companion Hybrid isn't on my list. but the Cintiq 13HD is. 799.00 instead of 999.00. Looks like only 20% is what we get on all items, which to me is pretty good, but might not be what you're looking for.

that must be the 13HD Touch, right? what about the regular 13HD?

Sadly, that's the 13HD w/o touch. The Pricing list is from Jan '15 and I haven't seen an updated form yet. I can reach out to Wacom when I go to work Thursday and see if there is an updated form or pricing for the models
