Glad to hear you had much needed work done. I still see the same dentist I saw as a kid even though he is out of my full coverage insurance and far away. A good, trustworthy medical practitioner is worth their weight in gold!

It baffles me that a dentist would have any business questioning your gender identity.

Women and Men have different jaw and teeth set ups so they might be dicks about it.

If it says one thing on your medical sheet and you look/sound like another, they're going to be aware. The primary concern is how they're going to be treating you once they know - some will outright reject you as a patient, some will ask probing and unacceptable questions, some may mistreat or bully you, and some will simply refuse to to use your preferred name and pronouns and end up triggering dysphoria. A lot of the things that doctors may do that's not okay are things you may not be able to prove or fight against legally and even privately in the office; you're already in a fairly prone position, alone and needing help, so there's not a lot of trust between the trans and medical community, /especially/ regarding emergencies. However, my dentist and all the people who worked there were incredibly awesome, sensitive and accommodating!

I'm already 3 years with them trying to fix mine, and gotta get a complicated surgery with a tooth next Thursday, I'm really scared... :/
