Fallout 4!, Desktop building help and FA content removal :c
10 years ago
Ahoy mateys! >:D
Very excited to see the new Fallout 4! >x3
I think I got too excited when I saw that landlocked ship hehe!
I can't wait to finish saving up for my desktop!
So far I've sunk in a deposit for an Msi Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard.
That should leave me starving for weeks to come, but it'll all be worth it! >:O
Was hoping to land the following desktop build as recommended by a few peers;
Msi Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard
Zotac Amp edition GTX 970 (4gb) (Sli in the near future)
intel i7 4790k processor
Some buncha RAMS (8gb x2 atleast)
Coolerz
some other stuff i can't really remember D:
Also I wanna point out that I've been messing up lately ^^"
I should really start to adhere more to the rules on FA.
I sincerely thought Loli=/=Shota so I've been making those GF Arts among other things
Long story short, a buncha my art were removed from the gallery. Sure it kinda blows but rules are rules! D: I just don't pay attention that well so I bit the dust... kinda o_o"
So two things;
1. Gonna try to stop drawing kinky lewd stuff involving underagies and gonna stick with just drawing kinky lewd stuff... maybe starting with Wendy from Gravity Falls or Original Furry arts...
2. If I ever do draw them, the arts will be replaced with a hilarious editted art in the form of a sneak peek... Probably. I need to make sure if that's not against the rule xD
so with that. here's hoping my glorious master plan to get a PC strong enough so that i can move on from drawing porn to making 3D models.... of maybe porn

FA+

No system specs were told...
although a rumour mentioned that the system specs will be slightly higher than New Vegas.
That is what you mean by minimum right? xD
Or am I just being a misguided nerdy pirate again? T_T"
cause if its only those 2 things mainly I already spot somewhere, where your going overkill on one thing that can be invested in another.
For SFM animations and such. The idea was to pretty much make 3D models and sell em off like usual... Or just stick to animations xD
I even got donated a pair of PNY Quadro 5000s to get started... theyre kinda old sure and not for gaming, but I'd like to think the thoughts count ^^"
2x8GB should be plenty of ram for any task cause more is only really needed for guys that do youtube stuff and so on to render video much faster. but its plenty for what your looking for,
as far as the GPU goes I would honestly stay away from 970s. I'm not sure if you are aware but Nvidia have basically lied to customers. the "4 GB" Vram are not true 4 GB Vram. they are actually 3.5 GB with another 0.5 GB tagged onto it that duo to the choice of the buss speed Nvidia picked slow down that last 0.5 GB. they run fine as long as the used Vram stays under 3.5, but when going above peformance will suffer from it.
Seeing as you plan on going with SLI in the future its better to go first with the single best GPU you can get and then get another one in the future.
Nvidia just launched the 980 Ti at a price point of 650$ and is dropping the normal 980 down to 499$. so it might be better to pick one of those two if you can fit it in your budget.
what should be said through is that with Nvidia you need 2 identical cards to SLI, meaning 2 980 or 2 980 Ti. you can't mix them.
the 980 Ti should also be mentioned is bascially a scaled down Titan. same board, but with half the Vram and other minor decreases its only around 5 to 10 % under the Titan while being whopping 350$ cheaper.
From your wording I also assume those purchauses aren't immediate so I would also take into consideration to maybe look at the coming AMD cards that will start to launch in 2 weeks. namely the R9 390 and what is codenamed as Fiji/Fury that will the the very top of the line card from AMD. they could very well be more bang for bucks compared to the Nvidia cards. but its still up in the air since so final specs are out there yet. so we will see. but I wouldn't yet say no AMD and keep on open mind towards both sides.
I would also recommend highly a SSD for the OS drive and then all other installations on a normal HDD. its unbelievable how much faster windows starts on an SSD and its hard to go back once you have gone with an SSD.
I've actually read something like that about the 970 :s But i just assumed it was just a specific GTX 970 ^^" Im actually kinda new to this whole computer building bizz
Well i think the GTX 980 is outta the list because it literally cost $980 here ._. i dont know if it was a sick joke made by the shopkeepers, but theyre overpricing that stuff to that extent.
Is there a different GPU you have in mind? D:
Am also trying to avoid AMD for compatibilty purposes, I'm also going to be working with a colleague who requires Nvidia based GPUs and such D:
SSD was also part of the plan, although in the distant future T_T" they cost a bunch, and i really wanna get one with a huge file size
since the prices I gave are the MSRP that Nividia gives. so a 980 should still be an option since the more expansive custom 970s are also up towards the cost of what the normal 980 should drop to,
as to avoiding AMD. I'm sorry if this comes across as harsh but you can tell your "colleague" to take it and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. there is no such thing as compatibility issues.
the only thing that is actually an advantage is that Nvidia uses CUDA cores on their GPU's. same as in the Quadro cards. and with some programs they can be set up so to take advantage of said cores more resulting in slightly better rendering times for things.
but there is no such thing as it not working on an AMD GPU. it will just take a little longer compared to the Nvidia card. that said popular stuff like photoshop and so on can also be set up so to take advantage of AMD's streaming processors in a similar way. meaning there will actually be no difference again.
But yeah to do the tl;dr AMD or Nvidia doesn't matter as far as GPU goes. there is no such thing as "it doesn't work on AMD". it only may take a little longer to render in terms of output. but in terms of using programs its literally the same.
It sounds more that your friend there gets his brand loyality mixed up for the sake of directing you into a specific direction. Fact currently is AMD give you more bang for bucks while Nvidia currently has the better option when it comes to "I don't need to care about money I just want the best". so please for the sake of yourself keep an open mind towards both since its probably nicer for your wallet.
that said of course your still free to use an Nvidia card. just if you do...I would pick the 980 over the 970 duo to the issues with the 970. plus as said, 980 should come down in price.
