Wow, the slider completely changes the feel of things. There's the bit of wobbling, but you mention in the YT description that you're planning on getting the fix for that. All you need then is a Two Steps From Hell song, and some Jeremy Clarkson narration, and you've got yourself a Top Gear segment intro.

haha, I know what you mean. it's becoming harder and harder to find clean unmolested examples. I've been lucky living near San Francisco as there are a lot of ae86's for sale at any given time but even so it can be a frustrating waiting game looking for a clean example that isn't over priced.

With the cars hitting around 30 years old now, even the cleaner looking cars will still likely need a fair amount of TLC/ restoration. with bushings, sensors wheel bearings and other wear items needing to be replaced or serviced.

I picked up mine for $2500 almost 4 years ago. it was an original GTS with a replacement engine. This solidly entered me in to the category of buying an AE86 that had been "Raped". or as I like to call it the "Tofu Tax" XD Cut springs, bad wiring, undisclosed frame damage/ collision repair. Then their was the inappropriate ground point on the head that caused galvanic corrosion to eat the back of the head. Not to mention suspension, bearings, steering, bushings and things i cant even remember at this point.

I love these cars so i've stuck with it through all the issues. All in all I think im up to $11,000 total in the project. My parents refer to the car as my "significant other" at this point. If i had a do-over i would have bought a much better example, maybe in the $4-$6k range but it has been fun watching the car go from beer can to something respectable over the years!

Haha I know the feeling. I saw you liked the pic of my Camaro haha, that was a long time ago I had that thing. About a year ago I had a '89 Toyota Supra Turbo Targa that started my love for old 'Yotas. It too was a mess that I got for $2,500 lol I was fixing it up as I went along for about 2 years. A lot of money, and a LOT of time spent fixing the damn thing haha. Then out of nowhere, a blonde chick t-bones me in the middle of an intersection when she had a red light. The car wasn't perfect but it was CLEAN outside and in, no tears in the leather interior, and even the original cassette deck lol. It was actually at one of the AC car shows, I think 2013. I was pissed and to this day I still am. Been looking for a year for an acceptable Supra, but like 86's, and 240's and any older car like that, they are all riced torn up and abused. Crazy people that have a nice example want $15,000. Yeah sorry bruv, anything with a 7MGTE stuck in it shouldn't be over $4k no matter what hahaha. Lots of people that get those cars aim to go Japanese factory JZA70 setup. I wanted to take it a step further and drop a 2JZ. It was in the plans, but not everything goes as planned. For now, it's just a future fantasy again
