I dunno, I kind of remember when I was a bit like that welps. SOO I kind of want to make this a lil callout that if you'd like help in aspects of art, just comment down here and we can chat and all haha
Though of course theres things that aren't my specialty that I can't help with haha, or that I have very little experience with.
Though my main area of expertise are;
-composition, colour theory, space (backgrounds), line quality and figure gesture.
but I know a small amount in most parts of visual art haha, tho I also know a fair amount in animation, but only in hand-drawn animation <:
So if you'd like some general critiques of your work or you'd like mini-lessons or just help with any of these, just comment or note me huhu
BUT as a warning, I am a hard ass when it comes to improving your art, so if you're just doing art for fun and don't really aim to put tonnes of work into it, probably best not to ask ;; and my critiques will be honest
tho I don't mind even just giving small pieces of advice for peeps who just like to draw :3

yaa I feel ya on that, I've always wanted to get super better at backgrounds and environments but I end up barely practicing that and falling behind on it so much ;X; trying do it more tho!! ovo)b
perspective depends on whether you mean for figures, space or for figures in space
but one thing I know that definitely helps me out is that when im thinking of an idea, I first draw out a basic of the figure and/or space
just enough so that I know where everything is, so pretty much shoulder or eye level for a figure, or a top/side view for a space
then once that is done, I draw a mini camera, and visualize where the audience are
this already establishes what part is the closest to the audience and what the angle will be
p much like this;
http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums.....ps7yfrjv7y.png
and determining what kind of angle you'd like to go at can just be done with experimenting and know what kind of feeling you'd like from this piece
so things like
-views from below a figure makes it seem more larger and intimidating
-views from above make the figure seem less larger and intimidating
and also remembering what parts of the place you'd like to be emphasized more! so ie. if its gonna be a piece about a character arm for some reason, you'd want the arm to be at least one of the things that takes up the most space in the pic, and therefore the closest to the camera!
so now its just drawing it out <:
tho for dramatic poses, a lot of it has to do with gesture for me, for drama theres just simple guidelines to follow
- diagonal lines make things more dramatic, so limbs or bodies being diagnol already makes it more dramatic!
-making arms and legs connect to each other also helps a lot, it also brings a very nice harmony with the figure, to practice this all you'll need to do is making a figure with the least amount of lines possible so like this;
http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums.....psopdzluwq.png
- perspective also helps with drama a lot haha, foreshortening to the max vs a figure at eye level will almost always have the foreshortened one more dramatic P:
also just use reference as muchh as you can!! especially with things like foreshortening and perspective you're not comfortable with, if a model or a friend or you aren't available to do it, then using posemaniacs, if even just to look at how a leg might look from an angle should help!!
tho i've also found drawing thousands of cylinders and cubes in every perspective imaginable (literally thousands) helps tonnes too, starting from simple shapes and building up from it is surprisingly difficult but very helpful! C:
aaaa hope all of this helps!!
I know a couple of other practicing stuff you could do if you'd like huhu :3c
Oh my glob. This is so nice of you.But if I could ask you, could you please critique work. ; ;
I feel my work is always missing something but I never know what
Just my gallery in general ;w;so I'd reccomend just trying to push that even more! >:3
try taking things like composition into account and creating more open spaces, maybe even with figures interacting with it!
though one thing that I notice is the way you shade, I notice that small places like in the crease of the thigh muscle its as dark as behind the leg, when it really wouldn't be like that
so maybe try exploring form and how space can determine where shading is placed :3
one thing I find that really help with that is placing a wire-frame over the figure like;
http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums.....t.png~original
first though just start out doing quicker 5 min ones like this, then over time you can get more detailed for it and make the lines more closer together, NOT doing them beside each other but first doing the main ones, then the ones inbetween so that no part is off because you focused too much on one part <:
but yee wire-framing can help with shading since it just puts the 3D form in front of you, and then it just helps to show where light would stop <;
also I think experimenting with different types of fur/hair would help ya!
so trying out more scraggly fur, long oily kind, just so that you aren't just drawing the same type over and over, and will help to add a nice texture to different pieces :3
WOW
thank you so much!
This helps a lot thank you ;w;
I know my shading can get a BIT dark and I know that I have to work on it lol
Oo well theres nothing wrong with having dark shading at all haha, its juat also knowing WHEN its appropriate, like highly contrasting shading will be appropriate for a dramatic piece, but maybe not so much for a light-hearted one, but yes learn how to use lighter and less contrasting shading too so that you can use both whenever each is best! C;
O and a very nice tutorial on the basics of composition <: ;
http://www.cgsociety.org/index.php/.....ition_tutorial
Thank you so much for doing this btw, you are such a sweetie!
gahhh of course and thank youuu sakjhfka you're too nice >//V//< <33
oo tho youtube videos i dunno, tho if possible try to find some life drawing sessions where you live, this is where a nude (or nearly nude) model poses. with sessions being normally 3 hours long
and ya just stay there and draw the models! this can help with ideas for poses since the model has to think of the poses most of the time <: but if you can't do this, then ask friends or pose yourself and then just take a picture with a camera!!
aa yess do NOT use an art doll, those barely resemble human movement and are so limiting in terms of poses ;;
for poses tho I mostly just start with gestures, since those get the overall ambience of the pose and its a lot easier to burn through many ideas in a short time then haha
so V quick like 10 second gestures like this;
http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums.....psopdzluwq.png
try to use the MINIMAL amount of lines you can for poses, i try to use the rule that not more than 5, this should also help improve line quality too u3u
oo well tbh it has almost nothing to do with program really haha, its just how you control with your hand :3 so just doing traditional stuff should help the most with it really ehe
like honestly, to practice lines I'd just have entire pages filled with replicated curves, so make one long curve on a page like;
http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums.....ps4oiyxzox.png
just trying to replicate the first curve almost exactly, the larger the stroke, the harder and more beneficial it'll be :3
to get sharper lines tho, just use a thinner brush tbh haha, tho if you're already using the smallest brush, just make the canvas larger so that the brush then just becomes thinner huhu though I haven't used anything but SAI for my art so I can't really say anything about programs sorry ;o;
aa and so in terms of your gallery, I definitely see a lot of replicated poses and all the perspective is eye level, so pretty much try to break out of those! Don't let yourself replicate ANY poses you've already done, or if you're doing it again, make it from a different perspective, and i don't mean just rotating the figure huhu >:3
O and also I'd really like to see more figures in space, even if its a simple box or a chair, I encourage you to try it more! :D
when you look to drawings for reference, a lot of the times what happens is that how you draw anatomy starts to conform to that, so I'd suggest not doing that at alll
when drawing animals, even if they're anthro, use photographic reference for their facial structure!!
and use human photo (or real life if you can) for the body!!
a good thing that I know that helps tonnes, is life drawing, though I know that its unavailable a lot of the time because of things like money/not available in the area and that. So asking friends to pose for you, or asking friends to take a picture of you in the pose is superrr helpful!! Or also using "posemanics" helps too!
On that website (if life drawing aint an option) try doing the timed drawings, the longest first. Doing about 50 of those, maybe even more if you're up for it : D
It might be very fast, so its best to use as little lines as possible, so even just drawings like;
http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums.....q.png~original
so that you use as little lines as possible, this will help with getting an overall flow with the figure
then over time you can spend more and more time on figures and poses <:
getting things like reference and practicing anatomy might seem fruitless if you're planning on just doing cartoony or drawing with unrealistic proportions, but before you try to draw things that are realistic, you have to first learn what IS realistic, so that then you can learn how to bend rules
though also things like this doesn't just teach anatomy, tbh it also teaches;
line quality, form, space, light/shadow, gestures
one thing I used to do when I really wanted to boost my art, was for one summer, I did 50 gestures a day, and then I improved so much!! so I really hope it helps you too! >:3
Ooo thats good that ya got a chance to take it!! : D
yaaa i hear yaa work can really take so much time away ;;;
wooo yes just try your best!! <:
Thank you so much again I really appreciate it!
OO what are ya hoping of getting into?? :^D
Also what are your brush settings?
Oh and also could I have a crit on some of my latest pieces?
well for colour I mostly really just relate it all to colour theory haha
I try to think of what kind of mood and what I'm trying to accomplish with the drawin, then I choose colours I think are appropriate
normally for larger and original pieces I first do colours tests, like about 5 colour palletes and lay them over a sketch on SAI or PS
then I just choose whichever I think is the best and captures what I'm trying to do with the piece the most c:
I dunno haha, I choose colours VERYY instinctively and there isn't too much more than trying to follow the colour theory and just go haha
tho colour theory is pretty much this in the simplest terms;
warm colours come forward - cool recede
light colours come forward - dark recede
yellow is the brightest colour - purple is the darkest
so just mixing those rules with what kind of feeligns I get with specific colours and specific mixtures of colours and bam pallettes hehe
wooo brush settinngss;
http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums.....pswv7v3dfw.png
woooo sure linkage me <:
Also time to get sai and try this brush out!
Im hoping to get some feedback on these three. I'm pretty happy with them so far but I know I can push myself for more.
Last one is nsfw

aa and so a critique on thesee~
you seem to be going in a pretty good direction huhu
though I'd really like to see more figures in a definitive space, so especially with their feet or their body planted somewhere so that the floor or where they are is really shown and so that I could see the space in front and surrounding them!
your anatomy is pretty good but there's still tonnes of room for improvement! though your gestures seem pretty good so try to focus a lot more on things like anatomy and muscle structure! also looking at references images or models and trying to base off of it more!
also when you are trying to do foreshortened poses, I really encourage you to try also doing the wireframe over it, so that it could help you to place how much something is foreshortened~
so like thisss;
http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums.....t.png~original
also I'd like to see more experimentation with colour!!
I do notice that from these three pieces you use mostly complimentary pallettes, so I'd like you to try doing some
here's a link to the basic three types of palletes huhu
https://hodgkindesignbmcc.wordpress.....olor-palettes/
there are more types but that requires a deeper knowledge of colour theory though that can be explained if you'd likee huhu :3
These are super fantastic examples thank you so much! I'm going to go try another drawing right now !
but so with colour theory pretty much its got a lot of meaning that can be attached to it and how yo place it, even if its unintentional
so things like how red will make a lot of people think about anger, and how blue is calming
so trying to remember tihngs like that not only will add more context and information about the drawing, but also invoke certain feelings!
also its good to also remember that colour have a hierarchy of vision, pretty much that specific colours will have your eye drawn to them first, then the second and third
so you can literally direct your audiences eyes across the drawing in a certain way with the colours
this is something that goes very well with composition as with both of them you can realllyy experiment so much and be a mastery of controlling how you want your images to be seen! : D
so ie;
- you want the audience to feel intimidated by the character in the image
- use colours that spike those kinds of emotions, BUT also colours that are VERY opposite to the place outside of the character
-so youd use pinks+reds for the char but blue+green for the BG
why would you do that?? contrast!!
because they are opposites, it will make both of them stronger than they would be on their own, so the character seems EVEN MORE intimidating and angry, because they will be strongly contrasted against the background and the space around them :3
but ofc life drawing is pretty much the end all like, anatomy 101 thing that will help you the most :3 but of course its not available to all, so just using posemaniacs and friends as models still helps!! ;3
for expressions try to use a mirror in your room and make the expressions yourself
like for an angry face furrow your brows and frown and observe what skin wrinkles and which stretch because of it!
also here's some amazinngg pictures of people faces doing their stuff;

I'll also post something here with references and tutorials on anatomy and that so just look for it huhu
i've got lots of references and tutorials saved so if ya'll need a specific one that isn't in the posts down below just ask :3c

I"LL ADD MORE HERe when I FIND MORe WOOOOOO HOPE THIS HELPS ALL OF U
though yes its pretty much like just practice like as much as you can ahaha
things like life drawing if you can, but alsooo try not to only rely on digital art for practice and finished pieces
there is a lot that traditional offers that digital can't, like learning colour theory and how texture can affect a piece really :3
although digital can kinndd of replicate this, with traditional you kind of learn how to do something from scratch and that can really help when bringing it over to digital <:
also though ye try to experiment a lot more, like using different brushes and styles, like try painting or lineless or reductive (when you take away from a painting to reveal the image)
