Not attending Anthrocon Artshow (two languages)

Before any rumors spread or people just make assumbtions I wanted to let you know why I do not attend the artshow at AthroCon this year.
Some of you might remember this posting http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6605116/ where I asked wether you have a look at artshows or not when you go to a con. thank you for all the nice answers again!
First of all I also have to say that the artshow staff at Anthrocon alsways was super nice, friendly and helpfull through all these years. To myself and my helpers. Big big thanks to them. Also even when I just attended Athrocon once I really loved it and had a great time :)
I did the artshow for 5 years now and to be true there wasn't really a curve upwards. I did not sell better through the years although I constanly sould art (mostly for startbids).
If you do something the same way for over 5 years and there is no road to success - you should rethink it.
That is my conclusion for this.
There may be many, many reasons. My art just might not apeal to the taste in the US, my art is just still too bad, not to catchy to be remembered ect ect
For the second I'm going to a a training drawing course next month in 2D art. Tutored by artists from the industry and I hope I will improve. I've never been an artist that thought she is so good she could not imporeve. It is more the opposite.
So you see I want to rethink my road and what I am doing.
Please don't see this as something bad :) this can lead to new exciting stuff and I also might attend the artshow again next year. This is totally NOT A "I will never do it again"

Bevor es irgendwelche komischen Gerüchte oder Annahmen gibt, würde ich gerne im vornherein sagan wieso ich dieses Jahr nicht an der AnthroCon Artshow teilnehme.
Manche mögen sich vielleicht an dieses Journal hier erinnern http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6605116/ in dem ich gefragt habe, ob Leute überhaupt noch in die Artshows gehen. Danke für die Antworten dort.
Vorallem möchte ich klar stellen, dass leute die die Artshow auf AnthroCon organisieren wirklich tolle Leute sind. Sie waren immer freundlich und hilfsbereit zu mir und den Leuten die für mich Sachen aufgehängt haben. Ein großes Dankeschön an sie. Auch wenn ich selbst bisher nur einmal auf AnthroCon war, es war eine richtig tolle Con und ich hab sie sehr lieb gewonnen.
Ich habe nur 5 Jahre lang was in diese Artshow gehängt oder hängen lassen und um ehrlich zu sein, mit mässigem Erfolg. Ich habe zwar durchaus immer etwas verkauft aber es ist kein Trend nach oben zu erkennen. Das meiste geht einfach für den Startbid weg.
Und ich finde wenn man etwas 5 Jahre lang macht und es aber keinen Erfolg bringt, dann sollte man überdenken was man tut und wie man es tut.
Es kann wirklich viele Gründe haben. Vielleicht treffe ich einfach nicht den amerikanischen Geschmack, vielleicht ist mein artwork auch einfach noch zu schlecht oder auch einfach nicht besonders genug damit es auffällt.
Zumindest das zweite kann ich jetzt schon versuchen zu ändern. Ich werde nächsten Monat einen onlien Zeichenkurs belegen und hoffen dass ich als besserer Zeichner rauskomme :) ich war nie jemand der sich als Artist ohne Fehler gesehen hat, es ist spgar eher das Gegenteil.
ich möchte meinem Weg und as was ich tue einfach überdenken.
Ich hoffe ihr seht das nicht als etwas schlechtes, ganz im Gegenteil es kann zu etwas Neuem, Aufregendem führen. Auch ist das kein "für immer" vielleicht nehme ich sogar im nächsten jahr wieder an der artshow teil.

So I am glad that your are working on improving, and something my band conductor always has taught me. No matter how good you get, you can always do better.

But what about other conventions? Has there been a steady upwards curve for you, or has it stayed roughly the same for you at other conventions as well?
I hope it is all right for me to ask rather so bluntly, I'm just genuinely interested and hoping for your sake that you're doing better at other cons instead. =o
I'm doing very well at european conventions :) and I show my art at most of their artshows.
Personally i would say dont give up and try again because i did see your art is coninually improving from year to year.
But if you think you should get a break for a year this is totally okay and not a bad thing at all. At least it will improve your Anthrocon experience and gets you a little more rest.
I have a lot of respect for your decision. Not every artist would be able to decide this for him or herself.
Also it makes me super happy that you seen an improvement :D
And I will defenitly continue working hard :D

Do you plan to attend the convention this year?
I can only make cons where I come out at least even.
