Follow-up to Previous Journal

It's been ten long months since my last journal but I finally have something positive to write about.
I got my CDL today.
It is required by the company I work for to obtain a CDL in the first year of employment or they terminate you. I started in September, started on my CDL in January and FINALLY got it this afternoon. It took so long for a couple of reasons:
1. I didn't have the extra $800 to spend on the DMV testing and the driving classes.
2. Driving is one of the things that makes me anxious and I dragged my feet.
What makes today especially significant is that the DMV is making the test, starting early July, ALOT harder. For my test, all I had to do was a 32-point Pre-trip inspection, a Straight-line Backup, Alley Docking and Righthand Turn. Next month, the Pre-trip is going up to 94 points and you have to open the hood single handed and point things out. Along with what I mentioned above, the DMV is including a leftside/rightside parallel parking and a couple other things I can't remember. What it boils down to is that if I didn't pass my test today, TODAY, I would have been royally screwed. If you fail, you have to wait two weeks to retest and it doesn't seem like the DMV is testing in two weeks. I may have passed by a single point (I got 10 points out of 11, the 11th would have failed me) but a pass is a pass.
I get to keep my job come September.

Congrats on passing your test. I didn't have that hard of a driving test when I took mind thankfully. I failed the written test once, had to retake that but passed the driving portion the first time. I can't imagine what people have to do now a days, so glad I don't have to do it again.

I got a buddy that is a trucker. It can be a bit nerve racking with all the little things to remember...plus the whole driving a huge truck thing.

It's not that kind of vehicle. We tow a trailer with a Kubota on it. We need a CDL for the weight, not for the actual trailer. While I do have a Class A, and can drive a rig, I'd rather bite off my fingers than drive something like that.
