So yeah.... my brand new Honda Shadow VT750 Aero and I had a little car wreck last night. Some dumb ass dipshit pulled out right in front of me at a yellow light! Granted, I was going to take the light, but he was not two seconds before in the far right lane with a right blinker on! He then veered into my lane(NO BLINKER!) and STOPPED! I slammed my brakes, my front wheel locked and i fell on my left side and skidded about 100 feet and hit the back of his car... So now my bike is broken. My 5 day old brand FUCKING NEW Honda Motorcycle. Im OK, just a few bruises and scratches... but GOD DAMN MAN! I was supposed to go and visit my friends in California who I havent seen in almost 7 months >_< Well yeah, Ill post some pictures soon of my once proud bike. Thank God I have insurance, at least Ill be able to ride it again -_-;

Not that it does you much good now, but most people will advise you not to get a new bike as a first bike. It will get dropped or wrecked, and it's a lot less painful when it's already got a few scrapes.
Also, cars do dumb things. You have to ride like you're invisible. It's not much consolation that you were in the right if some idiot driver gets you killed.
Practice your emergency stops, if you do get another bike. Locking up the front wheel means you panicked. Panicking makes bad situations worse. If the bike skidded 100 ft before hitting him, you had plenty of room to stop in a controlled fashion.
That doesn't help you much now, obviously. And you certainly have my sympathy - I've had a few really close calls myself, like a minivan that did a U turn right in front of me from being parked on the side of the road. Either way, do like he said - ride as though you're invisible and as if every driver around you is actively trying to kill you. Good way to stay out of trouble.
Good luck, and glad you're okay!
Rest in peace, Furp. :(
