What did you think of world?

Personally, I was very disappointed. But I think most people will really enjoy it.
It had lots of action and lots of Dinosaurs and some comedy bits. I felt the dialogue was extremely poor, and the characters very cliche, but I don't think many people will care about that. They just want to see some folks get eaten.

I agree entirely (I've seen it by the way). Such a dumb movie, but still fun.

I went for the Dinosaurs, and I got lots of 'raptors and a T.rex. Not going to look down on that too much.

Yeah I was kinda let down to be honest. For the same reasons, too. The first was amazing and not just because of the dino's. For an early 90's film the gender roles were pretty progressive. This one...high heels? REally?

There were quite a few characters whose entire personality and motivation was fully explained within seconds of them appearing on screen. They had no development, and no personality beyond their character trope. That works when the point of the movie is to turn off your brain and just accept the situation. For some movies that's perfectly acceptable, for sure (the "Expendables" franchise is a perfect example), but I wanted more from a franchise like "Jurassic Park". It made it's mark by being action-packed AND smart. You could believe in the characters and the situations despite the outlandish premise. The dialogue was smart and thought provoking, occasionally witty (which is not the same as being funny. A poop joke is funny, but Malcolm had wit). Beyond that, the actors were deliberately chosen for their innate acting skills, not because they were celebrities. That resulted in characters that stand on their own merits via dialogue and performance, not on their momentary popularity. LOTRs succeeded in it's casting for that same reason.

Jurassic World is action-packed. The Dinosaurs look beautiful and there's a fair amount of fan service and some clumsy (but still mostly effective) homages to the original film. It's entertaining to be sure, but ultimately forgettable once the next "summer blockbuster" comes out and Chris Pratt's flame dies down.

The part where they show how dumb they expect their audience to be is the bit with the jeep. 20+ years in a tropical climate and you're telling me none of the rubber decayed? Never mind the mess the fuel would cause. There's willing suspension of disbelief and then there's treating your audience like they're idiots.

I noticed that as well. For myself, I was willing to forgive that part (it was fan service anyway), but what I had a hard time with was the main antagonist itself. Too many abilities left unexplained, or lamely explained. Aside from that, the cardboard characters and glaring plot holes all left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Yeah. I like Chris Pratt and he seems like a decent person but he feels like a jock type. Not a jerk but not the type of guy to take material serious enough to do it justice. It's one reason why I hope they don't cast him as Indiana Jones. Indy was about adventure and action but he had a brain and a serious side. Sure he had a less serious side but it was old school thrill seeker not college jock out for a joyride.

Eh I shouldn't blame him for the writing or judge him, really.

I think the way I described Pratt in my "Guardians of the Galaxy" rant was "a frat boy that never grew up".

For the most part, I agree with what you are saying. He's not a bad actor, but he may well have been bad for this role. It's quite obvious that he was only cast because of his name appeal. He did well, but these aren't the kinds of characters that the Jurassic Park franchise needs if it wants to stay smart.

I liked GotG because of Rocket Raccoon. There's not much more to it than that.

I went into the theater expecting a joke. Who takes Chris Pratt seriously? :P

I'm pretty sure he was only cast because of his star power. That's a poor reason to decide on a key role, but in the short term it pays off.
