First Journal entry. Whew.

General
Good Evening/Morning/Afternoon/Night or whatever time you happen to be reading this. This will be my very first entry within FA, and I'd like for it to be focused on what this profile will be about, as well as a little of what I plan on for the next few coming years. I'll start by answering myself questions so YOU don't have to, but feel free to toss one in the comments that you think, uh, you know. . . Something I haven't covered below. Okay, here I go!
Who are you?
I'm just a dreamer. A young man who spent a majority of his life playing videogames, dedicating himself to learning the structures of them, and imagining what I can do with what I've learned. I know about Directors and Graphic Artists, certain Composers and Story Board Creators, all from familiarizing myself with the videogame community and its contributors. In other words; I'm a gamer, just like some of you. Or most of you, even! The gaming community has been growing stronger than it ever has been, and watching it expand globally makes me a very happy man!
What have you done so far?
Absolutely nothing! Haha! Hah. . . hehe. . . Yeah, I've done nothing. . . YET! You see some of the pictures in my gallery? This is a start to what I must do. And that is to gather visual designs from artists that I have commissioned in order to provide a "taste" of what is to come sometime in the future. These are characters I have created, discussed with the artists, and was helped from a friend who was kind enough to gift me the opportunity to afford these. So a huge thank you to my good friend, You know who you are! (He's left FA recently for personal reasons which I refuse to touch upon.) But he knows who he is! And I love him dearly.
How much of the game is complete?
But yes, character designs are in the works. Musical stuff is far from starting because I'm waiting for a friend who is currently completing a Music Major in college. As for the game itself? I say it's still in the starting phase. I'm new to RPGMaker, slowly getting the hang of it, and I intend to use many shortcuts, tweaks, improvements to the coding, in order to create a unique game. But story script? All figured out. Friends and I are just revising.
So what IS this game?
Mortalis Et Bestia! It's, um, it's latin. For Man and Beast? Oh, you can already smell the diversity in species that'll take place as the cast. Yes, yes, humans and anthros gather together to fight the forces of evil. But I like to express it extends far deeper than a simple plot on first glance. I want this story to touch on the aspects of humanity and its influence to the world and people. Various concepts we can relate to, these deep meanings ripped from our subconscious and brought forth into visual form. I'm talking full on emotional stuff. Things that make us look at the game and say, "Hmm yeah, that makes total sense!" The conflicts of Love and War, the perspectives of Life and Death, the consequences of Virtue and Sin. People who not only fight for the rights of others, but for what they personally believe is right themselves. May they be good or evil? Benevolent or malevolent intentions? Basically the concept that there is always a balance between two opposing factors, and how it affects us-- Physically and psychologically.
What will be the genre?
Roleplaying-Game. Along the lines of Final Fantasy, Tales, Shin Megami Tensei, and many others that have inspired myself and friends. Turn base or real time combat is yet to be determined. It depends on what kind of battle system I can stick with. Until it is settled, I'd like to keep people updated on it.
You say a friend helped pay for the artwork. Where's your income?
This is the biggest issue; I don't have an income. I'm doing my best to grab a job here in NYC and it ain't easy for some reason. I felt awful asking my friend to help me pay for art when he's already done so much for me. So once I get a job, I plan on saving a lot to help provide cost on getting more concept art, as well as other things that may be needed.
Is there anything we can do to help?
I've been nice this far, but I must be blunt about this; No. I'm not opening up some patreon, or kickstarter, or any donation site. I have nothing to show for that what people donate will actually be used, or at least not enough. I'd rather set up a base first, get my priorities straight, have everything settled, then maybe I'll see if I can set something up if I must. But has the thought crossed my mind? Hell yes! Check out that Shenmue 3 kickstarter. Funded the 2 million stretch in less than 12 hours and still going strong. Sometimes I think it'd be awesome for Mortalis Et Bestia to receive the same love and treatment. But we'll wait and see.
How long do you believe development will be?
I can't imagine how far I am to getting all the concept art and music done. And I need to buckle down and start working on the game's assets first. Complete that, write up a storyboard, then I'll have something done. It feels like a 50% portion to do all on my own, with the other 50% being the creative talent of artists and music makers. I'll have something to show for probably by the end of the year, or at least by the end of winter February 2016. I'm giving myself that time frame.
Anything else. . .
What's your favorite cookie?
Gingerbread. I love gingerbread cookies, especially during Christmas. They are the bomb.

That sounds really cool what you are planning for this game. I wish you all the best for it.
