Jurassic World Follow Up Stuff
I was quite happy to see that Jurassic World is a hit at the box office. It's currently sitting around $570 million worldwide, which hopefully tells hollywood that people want more dinosaurs, or at least more giant monsters.
It even beat out "The Avengers" opening record... which lends credit to a pet theory that I have. I think people are actually kind of getting sick of superhero movies, and Jurassic World offered them something a little different while still being big and flashy.
Nothing against the Avengers of course, I liked the first movie and I will probably like the second when I do see it. Still, Jurassic World is kind of a welcome break from all the angst and shallow "origin stories" that we've been getting in our blockbusters lately.
Of course there is already talk of sequils, and the movie did leave a big opening for one, but the direction it might take could be a little strange to say the least.
I think one of the reasons the other sequils didnt work and this one did, is because this one actually stays with the theme of the first movie. The theme park theme. It's more fun to see something that looks shiny and safe get wrecked, to see a nightmare scenario come to life. The other sequils didnt really deliver that, they were about people going to an island filled with free roaming dinosaurs and unsurprisingly getting eaten(and stomped).
Now that the park is presumably going to be shut down again, I wonder how they can re-create the fun of seeing best laid plans go tits up.

FA+

mostly paid attention to the raptors through the whole thing, yum, mainly blue, they moved right for me and thats what mattered :3~
I know I was excited just for the fact I remember being 11 and going to the theaters to see the first one.
On that note, I actually kind of hope they don't make sequels. I think they should just leave it as is and not ruin it this round.
I think one of the reasons Jurassic World worked over the other sequels is because it's story and characters were all pretty self contained. It took the premise of the original film and gave some references to them but otherwise did it's own complete thing rather than relying/trying to forcefully recreate what made the first film great. It's hard to beat that trailer glass sequence from the Lost World but in terms of sequels I certainly think World is the strongest contender (it's certainly leagues better than 3 was, even Sam Neil couldn't save that turd).
Kindof depressing, really.
You know, it might just beat avatar as well but we'll see.
