It was bacteria and not yeast? Either is entirely possible. I've seen a handful of crop smear gram stains with a buttload /overgrowth of bacteria on them (there isn't supposed to be).

My checkup was done in French (my second language) so I didn't catch some of the specifics, but before they did the tests they said there is a bacteria or parasite or fungus that causes lethargy + puffy feathers + undigested food in their stools (his biggest symptoms) they would swab for and if that didn't turn up anything they'd try other things. I heard the word "gram" a few times and they said he had "lots of bacteria in his crop" after performing it.

Sorry it's not more specific, most of the terms they used didn't mean anything to me but they were so, so nice there and he's looking better already <3

Ahhh, all of what you said made sense to me. I've been working in an exotics hospital for almost a year now. The lethargy/undigested food in the stool/puffed feathers does happen with infections and overgrowth. It just makes them feel bleh all over. I am glad that the medications have helped him to feel better already! Keep us posted! Those little critters are so fragile, yet so stoic. :)

Yesterday he was a total zombie, but today he's been more active (he's still sleeping more than I'd like but he's been preening himself, singing more and spends much less time on the floor of his cage). I'm very hopeful!
