Seriously. >< You're just doing it to try and be annoying. Cut it out.
Schreckenherrschaft von der Pony *hsus says:
Doing what?
says:
Uhm. Duh. You start by trying to make me feel bad by "Oh I made another character you hate. Hurrhurrr" then what do you do but start drawing them and saying pointless things like "Oh, my /other/ friends like him"
That just translates to "What's wrong with you? Why aren't you as good as my other friends."
You already know I'm not interested in this kind of character, but every time you make one
says:
you've got to come looking for a fight and bug the crap out of me with them.
Schreckenherrschaft von der Pony *hsus says:
D: I don't mean to come off like that..
Schreckenherrschaft von der Pony *hsus says:
I just love drawing him, wanted to show you but didn't wanna scan the crappy and unfinished picture.
says:
Well, that's how it always feels. >< Like you've been pissed off at me for a long long time and it's like you're being all passive aggressive at me constantly with these stupid characters.
Like you're constantly saying there's something wrong with me for not liking them.
Schreckenherrschaft von der Pony *hsus says:
I just wish you'd like at least one, so I'm hoping that I'll eventually make one that you don't hate. :/
Schreckenherrschaft von der Pony *hsus says:
:c
says:
Just quit it. >< You can't win with any of them. I. Do. Not. Like. characters like that.
says:
I like fantasy, but I don't like random things that are just so...ridiculously weird like that. I never have and never will. I don't like weird things with clocks on their heads, or ugly drooping freaks, weird little crawling smiley faces, or anything else like that. ><
Feeling rather depressed, now.. This is that same friend I was talking about before. I just showed her pictures of the new character in MSN..
What I showed her and some replies she said:

More to come on that character later.

Or a wine.
Or, like, have more than one gimmick.
I think it's a good idea to write out what you want the character to achieve first, I think. Why the clock? What meaning does it have for the character? How can this be refined and developed further?
Could he be obsessed with punctuality? A clockwork robot with clockwork brains? Maybe the clock could be made more hat like - Maybe splicing it with a train driver's hat? x3
His name is Timekeeper and unlike most interpretations of the time-keeper-father-time-guy-character, he gets to do paperwork. Lots and lots of paperwork. He files and records every event at every point in time at every place in the universe. One minute Earth-time is roughly three hours Timekeeper-time (not specifically for him; that's how time goes where he is 98% of the time), but even that slow isn't enough time for him.
LUCKILY, he was created by and works for the "universal forces," which are basically the presidents of the universe.. or something, and one of the benefits of being a "universal being" is that he gets to ignore all of our "laws of physics" and "laws of nature" and what-have-you. This means that he gets as many arms as he needs, as many legs, as many eyes, whatever he needs to get the job done.
STILL, it's hard for him to manage all of that and so he's super stressed and angry and fhsfdhsdfh-like all the time.
The hat-thing is what I call an "enchanted clock-cover" because it does just that - it covers his windmill-clock-head-thing. The "universal beings" gave it to him and because they wanted to be nice, they made it semi-floppy so that it wouldn't look really dumb. They apparently didn't notice that it looks really dumb anyway.
The clock goes out of time by a fraction of a millisecond every ten thousand years, and that's the only time Timekeeper gets a break, and that break is for about half-an-hour his time. He hates to take this break, because he freaks the hell out that he'll be so behind that he'll never get caught up, so he sometimes rushes the clock-fixing. Once, he broke the clock and effectively killed himself until someone noticed he wasn't doing anything and found him lying on the floor with his head.. open and sent someone to fix him.
He's a super workaholic, but he's like that because he's forced to be that way. The stress has probably made him like that permanently.
MORE TO COME, SOON.
..I feel like I'm forgetting something.
After all, if you're going to include something as part of a character, why hide it immediately? If it's hard to draw, don't include it.
The rest of him, I think, needs a lot more clarification before I can form an opinion on it - it seems really very generic and not condusive to the rest of the character. Again, I can't really make out the character very well, but it looks like a random dude with glasses - not an overworked, stressed out transcendental being. It needs something... personal.
I empathise with both you and the person you were talking to. I see the promise in the character, but also you seem a little quick to churn them out, it seems. It's not wrong if someone doesn't like a character design - it just means you have to work a little harder to make it appeal to more people.
And if you're looking to please this person in particular, don't try and force your usual tack on them - maybe they like a different style of character? Try a more approachable toony style, or something. Don't beg for validation when someone doesn't like a character design - the main thing is to take on board their criticism and use it to improve!
He hides the clock/windmill because it gets dusty real fast and he doesn't have time to clean it, and before he had his own working space, the other beings working around him were always asking him to turn towards them so that they could see what time it was.
Apparently, they didn't have their own DAMNED CLOCKS. <-- His reaction.
Again, I created him today, but even so, I prefer characters whose personalities are hard to "get" at first glance. I think that sometimes when a character looks too much like its personality, it can sometimes lead to the character being too predictable, but that doesn't always happen so bleh.
It's just that she doesn't like any of my characters. She doesn't like them because of what they are and the style won't change that. I refuse to change my style because of someone else. I've done that enough times in my life and I won't let it happen again.
BUT I'm not going to get on that rant on that.
Thanks for all this; I never get it from any of my friends. I'll get a real picture of him up as soon as it's done. I'm having issues with his legs. xD
