Hey guyyss.
I probably mentioned a while back that I'm losing my job due to the place going out of business. Well, that was supposed to happen on the 31st of this month. Sometime in the middle of last month I got about halfway through organizing a kickstarter so we could stay open, which got put on hold because some investors who live in the city met with our Braumeister and he thought they were interested in purchasing the business. Fast forward to yesterday, when I get a call from my Manager/owner of the business. She says that the people who are interested in purchasing the place will make an offer by this Wednesday, and that we should remain open until the business changes hands.
My manager tells me all this, and then asks me if I would be willing to keep working. It could be a month to six weeks before we change over, at which time if I would like to keep my job I can interview with the new owners for my position.
This all sounds great, and I've been a bit worried about losing my job and all that but somehow I'm really unhappy about it. I told her yes, that I would continue to work, and that I'm free to come in anytime... Which will be great for my pocketbook, but not so great for my social life, commissions, or my love life, either. Dash and I had planned to go on a vacation this month/sometime early next, and now I won't be able to get the time off for it. He's talking about doing it alone, which is fine and more power to him (I want him to have fun) but not really so fine because I get really depressive when I'm on my own for too long. Most of my friends are out of town for the summer, and the ones who aren't I barely talk to and haven't hung out with much... I'd get an animal, but our landlord doesn't even allow fish. And even then, spending time with others will take a cut of time out of my commission work that I haven't seen yet (usually every day that I have off I spend on art).
So long story short, I'm going to continue working my RL job until the business agreement passes through, and then I will be leaving it by choice (i.e. not applying again). For the meantime though it sounds like my life will be a bit of a rough ride while we figure things out both here at home, as well as at my work.
On a happier note though, you should totally go check out this artist. He is amazing and has a very broad style range, and is very easy to work with. Go give him a watch. He just drew Portia for me (here) and has some pretty rad vector icons here.
Thank you for the luck though <3 with a little of it, maybe I get a stretch of four or five days off and we can go on a trip anyway.
