In my opinion, it seems like just about every artist has one. Maybe don't get one like everyone else? If u do get one maybe you could do a comic exclusive to your patrons?

sharing is caring I think you'll have it figured out somehow. Me personally I think of patreon as a bill I don't want or need. However, you get my support on whatever you decide. Might not always be money but you'll definitely get words of encouragement.

Patreon seem to work well for visual artists.

you have nothing to lose by starting one, it doesn't cost anything to do so.

It gives a chance for the people who appreciate what you are doing to pay you something.

Hmm if it feels like charity, choose a project to work on. That's kinda the point, right? For example, if you were to do a web comic or something, and then your Patrons would be paying you to work on it...


That's my plan when I feel like I'm good enough at my craft, only I'm planning out a comic, a game, multiple animations..... phew... too many ideas...

Hm, here's the thing. Patreon is good for the artist as a way to receive income. However, for watchers, this is something that can bother them.

It's all right if you want to use Patreon, but you have to remember that not every watchers can donate their money (either because they don't have Paypal/Credit card, had a limited income themselves, have their card held by parents or other person, etc). If you lock your artwork to Patreon only, you'd risk losing those watchers.

My suggestion would be to keep updating your other galleries, but maybe give some delay time (perhaps around 1-2 days) when publishing the artwork. (Unless you're doing a big project like a comic, fan magazine, or something similar which would need months or years to complete. For that, you can hold it a bit longer.)

It's actually a good idea ! But It sounds like a lot of time investment.. And yes, I'm a bit scared of that, cause.. I don't know, I really like my watchers and I don't want to 'punish' them because they don't pay ^^

First of all , I think you should think about it very well, because there are also some points that have to be taken into account:

1. ( as previous review) noo all have paypal account
2. ( I know some artists who patreon ) They have much free time and live on his art
3. Your art is too good to be worth a try ;)

You had to, but don't forget about doing commisions here or other pages, some people who create patreons forget about it and focus more on patreon

Nah, Youi catually get people funding you every month and they get advantages like. skeyches, previews and stuff.. But they have pay monthly

But.. ... what if a person doesn't do anything?

Then the Patreon people stop paying, and leave your Patreon :3
