The long and short of it is, that Dragoneer done goofed. Again. If you look at the announcement, it mentions "Ad updates". What it fails to mention is that a lot of the ads were for extremely tacky hardcore porn stuff (Meet hot grandmothers in your area Now). Stuff that goes directly against the content rules of FA itself (users shall not/cannot create/link to such and such etc.). The ads were turned off not long after people started making a ruckus about their content, but they were up for at least half a day, if not a bit longer.
To be fair, this wasn't intentional on 'neer's part, but it does show a certain amount of carelessness and thoughtlessness on his part as to not properly testing and vetting the system before he implemented it. Not to mention there's a line in the updates note saying that users need to host screenshot proof of improper ads on a non-FA site. That's just insult to injury.
So yeah, folks are pissed at the Ads, at the fact that the Ads could ever happen in the first place, and the possibility of them happening again, so standard 'leaving in vehement protest' for a small but vocal group of artists and users.
Should you leave? Probably not, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to set up accounts on other sites, like Weasyl, Tumblr, and Inkbunny, so you can keep tabs on those artists who do leave.

So someone made an administrative mistake and his PR has been wounded fatally, eh? I don't know where these erotic ads are coming from, but on my end, I don't see them (probably because I have the mature filter on), and instead I'm getting annoying ads tailored by Google (some of which I don't need any more because I already did my consumer research and purchased what I was looking for in the first place >__<). Couldn't help but wonder about that, I'll admit.

I don't frequent over on FA, anyway. Most of the art that I do see on make me really uncomfortable, even with the mature filter on (some idiots still submit their work with the wrong audience tag). My only reasons are that there ARE artists who I like aren't on DA but on FA, and I like to have the option for my clients to contact me through FA, even though it'd be better to set up a Gmail account solely dedicated to receiving commissions.

Eh, I wouldn't necessarily call it an "Administrative" error. That implies someone just botched the paperwork. This was a combination of an error in judgement, as well as an error in QA testing. "Wounded Fatally" is taking it pretty far too. More like still more of his credibility is being chipped away.

Hey, it's the best I can surmise with my limited capacity to understand Internet politics when I'm more capable navigating the public transportation system in my home town XD I get the gist of things here, more or less. I still think it's like the DArama incident all over again, and I'm wondering at this point if I should join in the fight or just get a bag of NatureBox sea salt pop pops (popcorn) and watch.

Leaving is a bit of an extreme measure. I would suggest one of the options.

1>Ignore the ads.
2>Install an ad blocker. Firefox has a couple of ad blocker choices on straight browser plug-ins.

The one action I would suggest is, if you have any ads running on FA, stop them. A lot of us are running ad blockers so don't see the genuine FA artist ads either.

I rather not install the ad blockers if I can help it. Unfortunately, it's a necessary evil, especially over on YouTube where the creators get their revenues via clicks on their contents and the preroll ads. I don't want to take that away from any of the YTers I support, especially the Let's Players.
