"Haha, Lou, there's a comic here where Lady Justice is making out with the Statue of Liberty."
"Love is blind too, Shane."
"Ooh, threesome."
Most are thinking it's just about love.
It's also about hospital visitation rights, immigration, asset sharing/inheritance, etc.

It's just bloody incredible how many rights are encoded into the social contract of marriage.
"Great, now you can move out to-"
No, I'm still here in Malaysia, because ultimately I think I gotta change things where change needs to happen.

Whoa, some of y'all think sitting down to catch your breath is a lot like stopping the battle effort entirely, weeeird.
"still lots of bad garbage in our society to take care of but it's ok to take a day to celebrate and think about what everyone's gained
also say thanks to every older gay and trans POC you know bc they kinda started and did most of this"

"Oh my gawd people. Absolutely nobody is saying "Welp! Thats over, let's go have a sandwich". Let people be happy. Jesus fuck.
Dont mistake giddiness for complacency. Jesus.
You people yelling about how "lets focus on more important things" clearly dont understand WHY this is important. Stop being short sighted.
If you dont understand how this sets a precedent for the empowerment and equality of LGBT people, then I dont know what to tell you.
This establishes the equal protection of LGBT folks under the 14th amendment.
And eliminates the idea of such discrimination as a "states rights" issue. THAT'S why this is important.
And that protection will be applicable to other cases in the future. THAT is what a precedent is.
So maybe take a moment and think before you decide there's nothing important about this decision today."

YES. In still-many countries LGBTs don't even exist as people in the code of law beyond criminalized sex.

Now to brace myself for even more powerful 'family values' rhetoric.
I would stand with this when I can, and hope endures.
Best of luck at your country
