Art Classes STARTING TOMORROW!
Hey guys!
So tomorrow marks the first of a new month... and also the beginning of my very first group art class!
tl;dr it's a monthly email-group class that costs $20 a month. This month's topic is DRAWING. If you're interested in joining this month's class, comment/note me with the email you'd like me to use, and your drawing program (if any).
What is it?
The group class is broken down into three month "rounds". Each month focuses on a different topic: DRAWING, VALUE, and COMPOSITION. There are specific sub-categories in each topic that I will make lessons around weekly and assign weekly activities for you to try and show me at the end of the week. At the end of the week I'll privately email you a review of your work to make sure you're understanding the material.
It takes place entirely through an email group. I email the entire group the lessons, and you privately email me your completed assignments.
I understand where this is a furry art site that some of you specifically want to improve your furries, so while humans will be the main focus of the drawing section, I'll have alternative assignments for animals.
What if I don't care about some of these topics?
If you aren't interested in learning about Value, for example, you're under absolutely no obligation to sign up for any month you're not interested in. If you want to study Drawing and Value, you can skip Composition. All you need to do is pay $20 for the entire month of whichever topic you wish to study. I'll be making monthly announcements to advertise when the next topic is about to start, so don't worry about missing it!
What if I get in late?
If you miss the first week, for example, I can e-mail you the lesson to make sure you're not missing anything.
What materials do I need/how skilled do I need to be?
For July's DRAWING class, your materials don't matter. I might mention different techniques I use for Paint Tool SAI, but otherwise drawing can be as basic as pencil and paper. I do the majority of my own personal drawing studies in my sketchbook with a graphite stick. If you don't own a scanner, a picture of the completed assignments works just fine. It doesn't need to be excellent quality. :)
I'm going to try to simplify the topics as much as possible and really focus on the basics so that any level can benefit. If you struggle with the material however I'm completely fine with you emailing me so we can come up with an alternative assignment.
What kind of assignments are there?
Because I don't know each individuals time commitment, I've created a series of different assignments for each topic. Some are easier and less time consuming than others. There will be at least one assignment that I ask everyone to do, and the rest will be assigned a point value. The more of the assignments you do, the more points you'll receive. At the end of the month, whoever has the most collective points gets a promo in my journal :)
What happens after the entire 3 month round is completed?
I'm sure most of you realize that it's going to take you a lot longer than one month to become a great artist. At this point in time I plan on restarting the round every 3 months (making small alterations to the lesson and adding different assignments as I go along) so those of you who like the structured environment of a 'class' can continue to go through as many rounds as you'd like.
Let me know if you have any questions!
