The General Lee is an icon from my childhood, and for me it stood for the opposite of everything people are making it out to be. The fact that someone is going to desecrate a Hollywood legend, a piece of history, and an automotive masterpiece makes me sick to my stomach.

Time moves on and the meanings of things change. The swastika once meant something good before the wrong people got their hands on it and committed the horrible atrocities under it, but thanks to the Dukes the opposite can be said for the rebel flag, it once stood for something offensive but that meaning changed.

I don't see anyone up in arms trying to ban the stars and stripes for all the horrible things committed under it.

I say post the General.

Well, it's like this. Years ago I had a big picture of Sargent Schultz From Hogan's Heroes. He had that surprised look on his face with the words "I know Nothing!" . Now, Schultz had on his Luftwaffe helmet on with the Nazi Swastika on it's side(another symbol of hate an oppression). Would I be able to this poster up on my office door like I did a decade ago? Don't count on it. You have to do what is right at the time I guess.

Actually, it is the battle flag. It's not the Confederate national flag (though the flag did contain it in the canton at times), but it was the battle flag of the Army of Tennessee, and in a square form was the battle flat of the Army of Northern Virginia.

The General Lee is a historic car. Just like the DeLorean from Back to the Future. I for one am not offended by the Confederate flag on the General Lee. The car should be seen how it was originally painted. It shouldn't be censored just because the media has convinced people to be offended by the flag. I say post the General Lee

Simply put, no, I will not be offended. That flag has been flown for over 100 years. The history of it hasn't really changed, but suddenly people are offended by it. This being offended by everything and demanding it be removed has to stop.

Wouldn't be offended at all. I don't really support people saying the flag itself is a part of their heritage as an excuse to continue being close minded bigots (not saying all supporting the flag are like that, but you know the people I'm talking about), but in this case, it certainly is a piece of television AND gear head heritage.

I don't have a problem with it. It's about history, and removing it makes as much sense as removing any depiction of WW2 planes because they have a swastika on them, or for that matter, any depiction of the hammer and sickle.

Honestly I would be offended if you didn't post it. I may not be from the south and know the real truth behind that flag or what it stands for but i don't see it as a symbol of racism. Just because one idiot who had it on him when he killed 9 people. The Dukes of hazard was about family and morals. The show is not about racism, if it truly was it would not have even been made, let alone on aired for 30 years.

But now nascar is banning the confederate flag from tracks. Are you seriously that stupid. You have most of your tracks in the south and now banning people from flying. The death nascar has begun. I think it was stupid for TV Land to remove the show from its listings. It's a TV show set in the 70s about a couple rednecks and their car. What would rednecks likely have on their car in the 70s? A rebel flag. Pretending it didn't exist won't make it go away.

That being said, I support the choice businesses are making to refuse to sell merchandise containing the rebel flag. It's their business and their choice. I also support removing it from government buildings, because while you can argue for quite a while about what it allegedly represents, there's no arguing what it does represent to a lot of people and that has no place on public property. If you want to fly it in your yard, so be it, but don't make the government take a stand for you.

Furthermore, I've little doubt in my mind that the original General Lee has been restored, and therefore repainted. Painting over the flag doesn't mean it can't be put back later if someone chose to.

Oh, and since I guess I forgot to say it, sure, post away. I don't care.
