Muesum owner wants to buy/save the original General Lee.

As the news goes Bubba Watson who bought the restored General Lee #1 and after the current news about the Confederate flag, the golfer wants to paint the American flag on the roof. Covering the image that we all know from that car. It's funny how Mr. Watson was okay with the Confederate flag on the roof before the made up controversy. In any case it doesn't seem like his news has set well even with his fans.

Anyway be expecting me to put the picture of the General Lee replica I took a picture of a few years ago back up here. Because the minute you attempt to wipe clear a part of American history, you do a dishonor to those Americans who fought under that image. As it goes the history of South Vs North goes far beyond slavery anyway and as far back as the Revolutionary war.
Also thank you to all who commented on the journal bringing up this issue a couple days ago. You restored my faith in the rational human mind.

As for honoring the Confederate dead, I have to think there are better ways to do it than painting the roof of a car from a corny TV show filmed 115 years after the end of the war.
As for the Dukes of Hazzard, it is just a TV show, and when it comes to tradition, yes, some people have really shitty traditions, but this is just getting stupid. Maybe you could make a case for the Dukes promoting dangerous driving, or a disregard for lawful authority, but I don't ever recall it promoting racism, and there are plenty of films and TV shows that actually did just that. There are also plenty of historical objects out there that have symbols of one despicable regime or another on them, yet most agree that for better or worse, those symbols are part of history, and should remain.

Political correctness sometimes pisses me off. ...Christmas isn't even Christmas anymore, but I'm still going to call it Christmas, dammit! ...Be offended for no real reason...and have a meeery Christmas!
The way the media is reporting things it sounds like a racist flag, and a white privilege gun shot some black people while dragging a deranged white man that had a bowl haircut around with them. Why aren't we blaming the guys shoes, and pants, and underwear for his actions as well?
Seriously... When did the blame shift from people being responsible for their actions, to pointing the finger at inanimate objects?
Bunch of dumbasses.
Destroying history (good or bad) dooms us to repeat it down the line.
