Yeah title says it all. In my usual on and off rate it takes me a week to finish a drawing. I could easily do an entire piece in one to two days. I’ve have actually done that a couple of times. I think what keeps me from operating at that level is a lack of self-confidence in my drawing skill. If I’m not working on it continuously, there’s less chance of fucking it up right? Having such an attitude at the get go really takes the fun out of it. That and I’m spending to much time aimlessly browsing the internet. Well the unreliable DSL over here can help with that. As much as I enjoy the artwork of many of my fellow Irken artists very much, I don’t enjoy the hard self-criticism when I compare my art to theirs. All those works are so alive and fluid, while mine are not. Such action undermines my confidence as an artist even further. Even though I have garnered a small following on DA and some great complements from some of the artists I admire, I’m still the harshest critic of my work. Drawing more often though can change that. It would gave me the practice to improve my drawing skill and thus my confidence. Then maybe I can start doing more contests, art trades, and maybe even some commissions.
