Well, I guess my beef with it is that it REALLY just looks like a movie that's made just to sell products. I mean, I get it, it's an industry, it's gotta make money, but when I look at the Minions movie I don't really see characters, I see products. And the kids love it. Personally, I never thought that the Minions were sooo hilarious that they deserved their own movie. I mean, their jokes would work as side characters, but their schtick doesn't work as the meat of an entire film.

I dunno, I don't mind them as side characters, but they get annoying when they're all up in your face 24/7, both in and out of the movie.

well yeah, they are nothing but products now, made just so kids will buy stuff and make money, but what i don't get is everybody i know hates this movie with all their mights and to me it's? Normal? I've seen this happen since i was a little kid, with classic animations, games, superhero movies, musics, toys and stuff
Teenage mutant ninja turtles for example, every single thing made till this day is just to make cash and sell toys, because the toys came way before the cartoons and stuff, but people only rage at michael bay's movie(i too think it sucks, but it's not really the first movie made ust for profit XD)

Good point, but I think people don't like this shoved in their faces constantly. Kinda like how Alvin and the Chipmunks (the animated films) when THOSE came out, it's kinda like that "Eeeuugghh stooop!" Thing.

I mean, I don't really have burning rage for the movie, it's just "Eh, whatever it's for kids, if I want to see a good animated film for everyone I'll go see Inside Out."

I think the only film that got me kinda pissed with marketing was the Lorax, i mean the whole point of the movie was to be funny, colorful and teach kids to ook after the trees and the environment.
But then they take the Lorax character and shove him in car commercials.
