Umm so that is a weird one, for me it is a matter of sentience, both are find so long as it is commenting and they know what is going to happen. I guess of I had to pick one I would have to say taurs just because they are generally more sentient, but that is the only real reason.

Dahlia: ask if I could hug her and see if I can not play with her rings
Mirage: bask in hir beauty and see what hir scales are like
Nenamoi: yet again ask to hug her and try to figure out what she is
Zaleth: keep an eye on her to make sure she does not do anything and noticing her actions ask what she is (big bug fox can be scary)

i got to agree your OCs are very huggable, even zaleth under the right circumstances. also what happened to the others? you got more than that like Cinder and firespot for example.

1. toughy Mirage Dahlia and Nenamoi are all pretty high

2. for looks Firespot story either Salina or Desert both Chris or Dahlia

5. yes actually, you can do a good story. Can i ask you to make a Story from when Dahlia got slimed and Arlessi got formed to both me and Dahlia going out to the lagoon, show how she developed from hating slime type things to willingly accepting it later.
She went through some really interesting character development which would be perfect for a story, and if needed you can just skip all the dinner hiatus.

also about khan-kai, she would either use her talons or from what i have seen, feather fingers are basically extended little bones at the end into some feathers so they look almost identical but are fairly flexible. No thumb though
