Good bye Mr. Iwata
Greetings
I spent a good few hours with the thought of Iwata-san no longer being with us anymore. To many he was known as the President of Nintendo and that funny looking Asian guy in those memes about the DS/Wii printing money or that guy with the bananas. Though to me, and many of gamers out there he an icon and a gaming legend, a man who pushed for innovations and a new way to play. In an era of where everyone is trying to make games more then they are, Iwata always pushed for the game to be fun and memorable, leaving gamers wanting. When I think back to the last time we saw him I believe he along with Miyamoto and Fils-Aime said that they wanted to bring "Fun" to E3. Fun; a term that was not heard in a lot of the press conferences this year and has been pushed into the back burner and here was a man using it as openly as he did.
Now I'm not the type to dwell on a person's death, but on their life so in honer of his memory I intend to take some time from my scheduled to look back at the games that he worked on and remember on the fun memories he helped craft to me. With that I wish to leave with a small quote from him. Rest in peace Iwata-san.

In my mind, I'm a game developer.
In my heart, I'm a gamer." -Satoru Iwata

I've only just now learned about it myself through your journal, definitely sad news on the passing of such an iconic figure in game design and development. It took a while for me to come around to appreciate what Nintendo wants to do with their own games and the concept of them being just so much fun and memorable for it. Other games come and go by the boatload, quickly forgotten, but we always remember each and every one of Nintendo's games and Mr Iwata was a huge part in making that so.
