Off to Russia I Go!
I am sitting here in the airport, Passport (with enclosed Russian Tourist Visa) in hand. Getting a quick bite to eat before I venture off into the Land of the Rus. I couldn't be more excited to start my trip to Russia in Saint-Petersburg and then in Moskva.
-Georgian food (lots of dairy, wine, and beef and lamb). Georgia is a land of milk and honey with extremely fertile soil, so the food is very rich. Also, for folks who like wine, it has some of the oldest vineyards in the history of the species.
-Azeri food (Lots of influence from Middle Eastern culinary traditions, particularly those of Turkey and Iran, along with Russian cooking), if you like kebabs, you'd like Azeri cooking.
-Uzbek (Central Asian, so lots of lamb and rice and good bread and tea). Lamb and rice are so simple that nearly everyone should love them!
Oh, and of course, Russian food, which means lots of tea!
Plus I do really love the Balkans so I'd love to do like Bulgaria & Serbia together.
I have tried a Brazilian-style feijoada, and now I want to try a Portuguese one.
