Its not that bad of a train ride from NYC or ~6 hours by car if you can avoid major traffic. We would love to have you attend.

From what the website says, it was originally a series of large-scale parties at various events and this is their first year as a full-fledged convention. So anyone going will be going to a first-year con You might want to volunteer for it, given your proximity.

I guess they haven't updated that part of their website, but this is their second FurryCon. Third if you count their End of the World con in 2012.

Game of Cons is of course a furry version of Game of thrones
and it takes place on Memorial day weekend in May
I'd like to go myself one of these days

Actually, from what I've read and remember, its the con's theme now as it was the same concept as last year, I wanted to go both years (even posted a journal called game of cons last year)

both times I seen it as an add here on FA

2016 will be the last year we do "Game of Con Chairs" as a theme. It was planned as a three year arcing theme, but also open enough so people who didn't make it every year would still have as fun and full of an experience. We have several new theme ideas for coming years. i hope you check us out in 2016. Also we had to shift our dates off of Memorial Day weekend as there were numerous cons all with in a few hours drive of Rochester that weekend. We are now the third weekend in September. September 15-18, 2016

So is the 2016 con this upcoming September? I'm getting a little confused that it states the 2015 is over since we are in the year 2015 right now and the new years would hit after September!

No not this up coming September. The 2015 con was in May 2015 or a two months ago. The 2016 con is in September of 2016 (September 15-18, 2016 to be exact) a year and a month or so from now. We had to move the dates as there are several other cons on the weekend we planned in May of 2016, not to mention the travel costs on a holiday weekend were a lot more than expected so we felt this was the best available weekend.

Actually, the convention will be moving to September for 2016 (forget the dates, which is bad cause I run the video game room, woops!).

i tried looking into it cuz i live in Roc now, but all i got was that it seemed more parties and roleplay than con. i dunno, i could be totally wrong. it just seems very strange

We do host a con wide dance party at night but are a lot more. in 2016 we had 37 panels hosted by over 20 panelists, had 23 tournaments/competitions that we gave away awards (1st, 2nd, & 3rd place medals), a table top and video game room, con suite, movie room, dances, dance comp, fursuit game, a variety show, and all the things you expect at a con and more. You really should check us out.

I'm in New York State, but all the way at the other end, in New York City. So it would be a long way to Rochester. But actually it would be about the same price and length of time to get there by Amtrak as it would be to get to Pittsburgh.

I read about it earlier this year looking for cons to go to. Unfortunately I no longer live in that area. Would be a long drive, although doable. If you go, let us know how it is!

I attended it two years ago and would have attended it this year but was in the hospital.

I personally love it. It's a great con, run by great people with very little drama. Small enough con to keep things comfy and relaxing, but the parties are easy to be had for the good times. It is a 21+ only con so more less restrictions on how they have to separate adult vs non adult material and drinking rights.

All in all, one of my favorite cons to attend! I'd highly recommend it.

This year was far different in the dealers room that in past years. We tied part of the game to sales in the dealer's room. So the houses got more points the more their members spent. Also having the con game located in the den helped a lot. From what I saw there was a lot of $ spent there this year especially compared to previous years. I can tell you the con store more than tripled 2014's sales. The feedback survey from the dealers gave us rather high marks this year. We had one dealer that didn't do as well as they wanted but the other 13 were very happy with the improvements and gave us some more constructive feedback on things to continue to improve. in reality the only thing the dealer's den really needs in 2016, is what the con in general needs, and that is MORE people. We have a lot to offer and people just need to come check us out.

Sounds good to me. I haven't gone to a con in a while and this one is closer than FurFright was. A con for grown ups only sounds good to me too.

I went to furrycon this year! It quickly became my favorite con. There's like a huge meta game during the whole con, free drinks at night, prizes handed out for various tournaments, etc. It's a smaller con but it makes it more personal. Highly recommend it!

Wow, I am shocked by the number furries in the immediate vicinity. :O My wife went to this a couple of years ago and seemed to really like it. Being riddled with social anxiety I didn't go myself. We're about 45 minutes outside of Rochester.

I hope you get to come its a fun time. If nothing else we hope to see you at the meets again.

Thanks, will do! I like the idea of cons that are local - my budget for driving is usually 5 hours at most, not a huge fan of taking the plane.

I had a great time at this con its definitely a smaller con but that's part of why I really liked it as it felt more relaxed than running around all day like at the bigger cons. Plus we got to hang with the Blue Angels this year which was awesome!!

I saw the cards on the table at AC too. Rochester is only about 2 hours (plus boarder delays) from where I am in the far western GTA. I'll add it to the list and see if I can attend.

I can tell you this. I had one of those colds that you cannot shake so even though I was ill all weekend. I had a blast. I will sleep a lot but when I got some rest and energy I went out and played in the con. I really had a great time in spite of myself. I am looking forward to the 2016 year as I think it will be a great growth year for the con as the con will not be competing with a family holiday or other conventions.

We had a really good time! It was small, but there was a lot to do there, and the people were really friendly. I would definitely recommend going, especially if you are in the area!

I might have to hit up that con, I go right past Rochester to Albany all the time.

I've been there both years and both times I've had a good time even though I wish more people came!

Love going to FurryCon. Attended season 1 and 2 of Game of Con Chairs, and looking forward to season 3 next year. Was also at the End of the World in 2012.

Think that this con has a lot going for it. It has been a relaxing and enjoyable time every year for me. Like the current multi-year theme, and game within the con. Each "season" is a new opportunity for the next year's honorary con chair to rise up from among any of the con attendees. Think that the game encourages you to participate/explore all aspects of the con; panels, dealer's den, etc. Being in a house gives you the opportunity to meet new people, and makes you feel included, and a part of the con, not just someone attending an event. Also, have liked seeing how they have taken the time to improve events people already enjoy, i.e. the joust.

It's been convenient too to find places to eat, from a sub shop to Dinosaur BBQ in walking distance. And, more options if you want to drive a little further out.
