Omnimodus Luminare or Everlasting Light
Until such a time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on.
This is a species revamp of an older original species of mine.
They've gotten a complete make over, so yeah.
Here they be:
Omnimodus Luminare
-Basic Info-
Body Type:
Omnimodus Luminare (Luminare or Lum [Loom] for short) have the litheand limber body of a jungle cat and the long muscular legs of a Western Dragon.
Luminare have four legs with three toes on their front and hind feet. Each toe has a claw, these can be retractable like a cat or fixed like a dog.
They have at least two horns, but may have more.
Ears can be short or long, stiff or floppy.
Only Air Lum have wings
Their skin is smooth, much like that of a sting ray in texture. It is a very good insulator and helps the Lum withstand extreme temperatures.
The teeth of a Luminare Dragon are retractable. (Like Toothless!)
Eyes:
Eyes can be any color, all primary eyes have star shaped pupils. All secendary/tertiary/etc. eyes have slit pupils, and serve different purposes such as: infrared/night vision/circulatory systems/etc.
Coloring:
Luminare can be any color of the spectrum. Generally their body is a darker color than their markings (if any), but not always.
Fur:
The fur of a Luminare is softer than the softest substance on Earth, but also stronger than the strongest material hitherto discovered by man. It can be any color of the spectrum but is translucent. The skin and other tissues directly beneath the fur of a Luminare is often clear, letting the natural light of each Dragon's bones shine through their prismatic hair. It can be long or short and is bioluminescent (white), but to a much lesser degree than their bones.
Fur Structure:
The fur of a Luminare Dragon is formed of tetartoid dodecahedron crystals. That is: They are twelve-sided and asymmetrical, like that of the stone Cobaltite. They are bonded together at a molecular level into tightly woven, extremely soft strands that are deceptively sharp and dangerous. When caught at the right angle by light, the fur will refract and cast rainbows all around the Luminare.
Markings:
Any pattern is acceptable.
Bones:
The bones of a Luminare are bioluminescent. They can give off anywhere between two and five colors and the pattern on the bones has a swirl effect. If a Luminare is killed, its bones continue to glow. This includes teeth and claws.

Species Behavior:
Luminare Dragons are protective beings, they watch over each other or any member of any species they consider a friend.
They can live together in small or large colonies or they can be rouge and travel by themselves. Some communities are nomadic and others choose a certain climate to call home.
There is no disgrace in being rouge, it is a personal choice and no Luminare Dragon begrudges another of that choice.
Food:
Luminare Dragons feed off of smaller creatures than them. Ravyg are especially delicious to them, and the adore their eggs. But they will pretty much eat anything smaller or slower than they are. It is not unheard of for a small pack of Luminare to take down a creature three times their size.
Gender:
When a Luminare is born, it has no gender. When it reaches maturity, which is another personal choice, they can decide to be identified as male or female, or neither, or both, as they desire. Once a Luminare has decided on a gender; or lack there of, they can not change it.
Birth:
Luminare are born from eggs. Only one or two per clutch, more is unheard of!
They have a standard mammilain reproductive practice, but it's mostly for fun. In order for a pregnancy to occur, a female or non-gendered Lum, must conciously will her eggs to decend during the sex act, AND the male, or non-gendered Lum must also consiously will their seed to enter the other's body.
When the two meet in 'female' Luminare's womb, then they can mixed to create one or two new lives.
Parenting is not a task that is taken lightly. It is agreed before the pregnancy which partner will take on the responsibility, or if they both will enter into a committed relationship until their spawn reaches maturity.
Life:
After its birth a Luminare is cared for by it's parent, parents or by it's community, depending on the situation. If it was two Rouges or a Rouge and Colony Lum that birthed the new one, it is generally cared for by one parent. If it is the offspring of two Colony Lum it is generally raised by the entire Colony. Some Luminare gladly take on a nurturing role to raise their own offspring and are very protective and loving.
When a Luminare is born, its colors are bright and vibrant! As it ages, they can live a very very long time, its colors dim until they become pure white. When this happens the Luminare Dragon knows that it's time has ended and it leaves to find the Sacred Place that only Lum at the end of their life can find.
From birth a Luminare is about the size of a 12 week old kitten. At maturity, a Lum can be anywhere from the size of a bob cat to the size of a tiger, very rarely do they get any bigger than that, but it has happened.
When a Luminare Dragon reaches maturity, generally 12-19 years, it gains the ability to take an anthromorphic form of itself. If it desires.
Interspecies Relations:
Luminare have no natural preditors, but many that have made contact with other species have not returned. Their hide is a highly sought after prize among those that know of them. A suit made of Luminare hide protects the wearer from extreme heat and cold, making it possible for that person to travel toclimes they may not normally be able to withstand. Their bones and fur are also highly prized for making jewelry and weapons. The bioluminescence of a Luminare never dies and their bones are hard as Diamond.
Language:
Luminare Dragons are telepathic and can communicate with any species that has cognizant thought. They can speak but their voices are of a decibel than most species can not hear.
Dieties and Religion:
The closest thing Luminare have to a Diety is First. First is the first Luminare. (See below for more information.) They have no set religion, though some may adopt the religion of another species or group. While yet others will create their own and place themselves at the head of said religion. These Lum are shunned from general Luminare Society and no longer referred to as Omnimodus Luminare.
Just like any other species there are 'Good' and 'Evil' Luminare. Evil Luminare are few and far between and are not regarded by other Luminare to be Luminare any more. They call these 'Evil' Luminare: Pravas.
The First:
There is a story of the First Luminare, this being wanders the Realms helping others. No one knows if the First is male or female, but First is the only Luminare that can make other Luminare without another Luminare present. (reproduceasexually) This Lum is nearly entirely white; it is as old as the universe and will be the last creature to leave when this universe passes into the next. Or so the legend goes.
