Personal Work
UGH... I've really been inspired art-wise lately. Studying a lot, really investing a lot of time into my classes, but for some reason it's not translating to personal work. I've been steadily doing commissions and I haven't done anything for myself for 6 months. Now when I try, nothing comes out. I just can't produce anything. I'm lacking both ideas and as soon as I know I'm drawing something for myself it's like I completely stiffen up and I can't draw anything.
My imagination must be completely rusty after just drawing other peoples concepts and characters for so long. I think I need to take some time to invest in personal work (mostly human stuff) and really start experimenting with styles and stuff again. How the heck does one improve creatively? I already use themes to generate ideas but otherwise I'm totally dry. I think I need to develop more characters and some kind of world or story that will keep my imagination moving along.
I might take next month off from commissions to focus on that. I might also just open a few slots for experimental pieces if anyone would be interested. UGH I HATE RUTS.

And in my opinion it's important to do personal work every now and then :3 not to mention that I would love to see more of your characters!
Besides that, I am looking forward to seeing more personal pieces from you again!!
Whether it be roleplaying, worldbuilding, character writing, memes, or even just interaction with your friends on skype or some such, writing about your characters and other peoples' characters, settings and shows you like or videogames you enjoy, thinking about these things should spark "What if" thoughts. And those are the kinds of thoughts you want for creativity; "What if" sends you nosediving into a realm of possibilities that's sure to spark inspiration. "What if my character was involved in this", "What if the world were more like this", "What if my character existed there instead of here", etc.
Like others say: go for walks, visit an art museum, do some doodles from life at a dog park, do one of those thing a day memes with your favorite animated characters, whatever you enjoy, get inspired! :D
I also find personally I frequently will have great ideas and have no time for them, then when I do have time I don't remember the ideas. A folder full of inspiration, a notepad with ideas written down, has been useful to jog my memory.
Good luck!
