I definitely pick my characters first and then figure out their personalities later. Often if I'm drawing them that is where their personalities will develop, and as I make more art of them later down the line or emote with them suddenly I'll start understanding who they are.

As it stands the wraith is the character with the most backstory, and even then its a bit sparse. She is a humble and broken vessel of justice for God basically. :)
