Personal rants will now be marked with (RL) or (Rant) When I make a journal.
TL;DR is that I'm losing my job on Sunday, and that's going to affect my workflow (ultimately in a positive way, probably).

Ugh. I am so tired. I worked 9 hours last night and it ran me ragged. I have not been this busy in months, but a lot of customers came in (even several times) because while we've known it's going to happen, the announcement that we're closing on Sunday I think finally hit people. I think today is going to be even worse. I lost my voice last night, having to yell over people at the bar so hopefully I can make it through one more night x__x
For those unfamiliar, I bartend at a little German Pub that's changing owners and going through a heavy remodel. I make a meager $5 an hour, and for as much as I have to complain about I really do enjoy my job. I love the customers I get, the people I work with, and the food we serve. It's sad to see that all go away. I really do care about the owners and the braumeister (who will be the only current member to carry on with the new owners). I'm sure I'll be relieved when I don't have to take on so many hours and worry about my manager's money problems anymore, but right now more than anything I'm just kind of sad?
I don't really know how to feel about this right now, since it's all setting in. I guess more sad than anything :,)

Work up unto this point has been a nice opportunity for freebies, a nice chance to rest my hand and focus on something else for a while. It'll be interesting without it, and interesting to see how my art and activity here changes because of it.
And for all I've been complaining about my coworkers and my increased hours lately, I'm very sad to know that it's ending :,c
End rant!

on the bright side.... You'll have more time to talk to me!!!!! :D
I liked it, but the new manager they brought in tried to turn it into a 5 star resturant WITHOUT hiring new people, changing the low quality food they ordered (rather they made me cook the same shit in 15 different ways trying to make it LOOK new and more expencive), and without hiring a helper so I COULD put more time, effort, and enthusiasm into the cooking.
that and I kareokied better than he did, and fired me for it. not my fault he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket
Yeah a little of the same happened here. We've always had great beer, but our menu has been rather lackluster. We had a change in management, and the woman who took over really knew what she was doing--I think it was a bit late in the business for her though because while the costs that she put into the menu and the cooking and whatnot brought more customers in, it hurt the business so much that the owners got scared about the money they were losing (not thinking about how it would affect their future sales, which I can almost assure you would have been positive) and decided to close just as business was picking up. But they have never really understood the concept of running a business and how it relates to risk and reward so I can't say I'm surprised.
It's just sad that IMMEDIATELY after we get a good thing going, they shut it down and close their doors. That's kind of the story of their business unfortunately.
burgers, fries, wings, Reuben's (OMFG I made the BEST Reuben's there!). I didn't even like doing potato skins. too much work, not enough substance.
we had a couple levels of hot wings: mild, hot, Very Hot, and LAVA. I added lava when a customer complained TWICE that the wings were not hot enough after getting hot, then Very Hot...
so, bold and spicy BBQ sauce, a full medium sized bottle of Tabasco, a LOT of Cayenne pepper, and a 8oz jar of Habaneros blended into a slurry that set his mouth on fire... he said he was sorry for being an asshole, and paid for all three orders.
=^.^=
NEVER tell a chef that his shit isn't hot enough... they will fuck you up!
