You could probably save some money just by buying parts and then assembling them yourself. It's all pretty easy, the components are basically plug and play nowadays.

I probably could but the issue with me remains that I have no idea what goes well together and when I looked at parts they weren't much cheaper -___-

I would have to agree with the poster above while adding the fact that buying all the parts you need and getting them home, putting them together takes up no more space then about the size of a desk or bed worth. The only clutter you'd have is the boxes which can be piled ontop of each other and set aside.... either till you need the part or are done with that part.

That still doesn't solve my problem of being a noob who has no idea which parts work well together though ;)

If you had a place like MicroCenter like we do here in the states, I'm sure they'd point you in the right direction. Any big electronics store would help so long as they have a parts section rather then offering pre-built PCs. Newegg.com sometimes has some combo deals going as well which would help cut down on getting parts mixed up. Can even get a whole barebones system I think from newegg

Yeah the issue in the UK is that buying the spare parts isn't going to be much cheaper than just getting a custom place to build it (from what I've gathered), also because of all the shipping I'd have to pay on top of it.

My last two PCs were custom built, one from scratch, the other one built for me by a store - after I picked the components. The latter one worked out better for me, also because of warranty reasons ;)
