Selling paintings at cons?
Quick question: those of you who go to cons, and either buy work there or sell work there, do you ever purchase or successfully sell original paintings? Or if you sell original paintings, what venues do you have the most luck selling them in (cons, off-beat art galleries, little coffee shops, funky little salons, whatever.)
I'm moving soon and I've got a ton of smaller canvases I'd like to get rid of. I think it might be nice to do some stylized animal paintings and see if I can't get some of them in a good home, instead of just sitting blank in a pile in the corner. But shipping canvases is a huge PITA, so conventions occurred to me.
I'm assuming paintings that are easier to hang in common areas in a home (so like, an expressive feral animal, rather than a big-titted furry or something) would be more broadly appealing. Plus regular animals are just fun to paint, especially in fun bright colors. :3

I think it's an excellent idea. Subtle, but tasteful artwork is a great way to express your interests without offending anyone who isn't looking to be offended. And the one-of-a-kind status of hand painted items is highly desired in many cases. Go for it!
