Where to visit in NYC?
So I have the weekend to do whatever in New York City - starting Friday afternoon and flying out Sunday evening.
What places do you guys think are good to visit?
I'm staying at a place just NW of Central Park. I've been to NYC once before, and I've already seen: skyline from top of a skyscraper, a Broadway show, and Ellis Island (among other minor places that I've forgotten about).

Chinatown Fair sounds cool, as well. Was gonna stop by the area, anyway, so that's another place I can try!
I like my sugar. :v It's a bit far away from the cluster of places I have planned, but if I'm near I'll give it a look!
Thanks! .z.
I only had time to visit that arcade during the day; it was pretty empty at around 11. But that makes sense. It was small but it looked like it had a decent amount of cabinets! Would have been cool to visit at night, I bet.
I didn't have a chance to go to Max Brenner, unfortunately.
Thanks again for the suggestions!
If you're into the whole thrift store scene, on 23rd st between 2nd and 3rd ave is a row of great ones. They're right across from SVA. If you're into the dirty hipster music scene as well, you'll also like The Thing in Brooklyn. Another place of music shopping interest is the Academy Records annex, which is a few blocks from The Thing.
If you're into video games, there's an amazing store down by NYU. It's called "Video Games New York." It's a bit pricey but they have a great selection.
Other tips:
-Don't go to restaurants in tourist-filled areas.
-Restaurants have their health-inspection grade in the window. It's really hard not to get an A, so don't go to ones that don't.
-Don't take the subway unless its more than 50 blocks away.
-Download an app called "Urbanspoon" if you haven't already.
Not really too interested in music shopping myself, but if I'm around that area, I can check out the thrift stores.
I was looking at that games place, too! I'll stop by there. I think there's another one just southeast of that place; 8 bit and up, it's called.
Yeah, imma try to look up good food places ahead of time, but that all should help.
And why's that, with the subway? Too crowded? Expensive? Not worth less than 50 blocks? (About how long would 50 blocks be on foot, anyway?)
Thanks! ovo
Expensive: $2.75 each fare. Fares are for entrance into the whole system, so you can transfer AS MUCH AS YOU WANT on a single fare. Generally, you'll get much better value by doing the 50 block rule. Download this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/.....s.it&hl=en The map function can be used without service. Although, be warned that construction exists and you might find that a train you need to transfer onto is closed at your station.
Also, they are 'trains' not 'lines.' If you had to take the train from downtown to uptown, you did not take the red line, you took the 1, 2, or 3.
'50 blocks' itself also only refers to streets. The distance between avenues is much wider than between streets. A street-block takes about a bit under a minute to cross, depending on your pace. THE EXERCISE IS ALSO GOOD FOR YOU.
Also, Nintendo World is actually kinda lame :((( Prioritize Kinokuniya and Book Off.
I did go to Book Culture, though, and actually bought 2 books from there. Those were like, the only physical things I bought in NYC other than food. :VV
The thrift store area was too far away for me to visit this time.
I did go to that game store, though! It was pretty cramped, but packed with a bunch of games. Was cool to see some of the N64 games I have back home up for sale, and the value placed on them. (I bet I could make a decent amount if I sold my cartridges! o-o)
I think I did alright with food places; mostly ate at hole-in-the-walls, and I don't think anything gave me food poisoning. xD
The subway wasn't too bad; it got me to where I needed to in a reasonable amount of time. I did end up walking a lot, though. 8 miles or so yesterday, and a lot today, too! The buses were alright, though I did kinda get ignored by the M4 at 9pm once. >_>;
Nintendo World was alright, yeah. That Gulf War Game Boy made it #worth enough, at least!
