Has anyone here tried a Monoprice tablet?

The ongoing issues with my Intuos tablets, which are probably as old as some of the people reading this journal, make me consider just buying a new one. Big Intuos tablets cost close to five hundred bucks, so I'm looking at the dirt cheap Monoprice tablets. Reviews are mixed, so I was wondering if any of you had any opinions about Monoprice tablets?

It really makes me want to go back to using Wacom.
YOU DON"T HAVE TO CHARGE THE BATTERY IN THE STYLUS.
And I can work really far away in big pictures and still have stable lines.

They give you the driver by using the number on the back of the tablet to make it that much simpler. lol
There is some truth to what others have said on the smaller ones. They have a cheap feel to them and in that field do not save you a significant amount of money over the Wacom, so I wouldn't recommend them.
Now the Cintiq-knockoff, is actually worth the money as a starter in the tablet-display category. I got mine for a third the price of the cheapest Cintiq on sale and I like it quite a bit. Strengths include obviously the size - it is enormous compared to all but the largest Cintiq (and their commercial products) and the fact that the software and drivers can actually be acquired from the original manufacturer (not Monoprice, in other words).
Unfortunately, the viewing angle is poor, so I usually set it in my lap, for which it is a bit cumbersome - but so are a number of the Cintiqs - the screen is thick, if you were at an angle you would see quite a gap between the pen and the LCD - and the blasted thing has no hotkeys. Such an obvious failing. I use an old left handed touchpad for hotkeys when I use it.
So, to wit, compare it more to a Cintiq than an Intuos, and you will see the appeal of the $3-400 price tag.
The human/computer interface. The part where all that honed skill and attention has been focused. In the hands of the artist.
Buy a Wacom tablet. Get a small one if you can't afford a big one, but for the love of God, please don't waste your money on the Monoprice tablets. I ended up buying all new Wacom tablets to replace the Monoprice tablets at the university because the instructors and students hated them with a passion. I can go into detail if you'd like, but suffice to say they are poor quality and have no customer support.
Please don't waste your money. You need the right tools for the job.
