You are free to think of it as you like, however wrong that is. Those with student loan debts have to deal with it somehow. Volunteering with the program, while not a job, has the same basic effect of paying down that debt. If they get a job instead they are still working, only that work isn't helping others at the same time. I suppose they are free to not pay it off, at the cost of any credit they'd like to have.

Yes, because god forbid people help themselves first. God forbid people be able to earn actual in-their-pockets money for doing work. No, let's slave away for "charities" instead, because walking for the cure and "raising awareness" wasn't enough. There's a big difference between working for an employer and working for a "benefactor".

- The corrupt and despicable student loan industry gets its money.
- This organization gets a cut of whatever people donate.
- The debtors get fucked.

If they have a job, they wouldn't be interested in this. If they don't have a job and can't get one, then it's better than nothing. Debtors are always fucked the moment they go into debt. The student loan industry is indeed corrupt. You're still wrong, but hey, you got a couple points right, isn't that fun? :)
