criticalhit64 doing this and I thought I'd jump on board. After all, I like games!
Favorite video game?
Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. I love how everything in the game seems to blend together the more of it you play, and the narrative is amazing. Seriously, ask me about it and I won't stop geeking.
First console you owned?
An original Playstation!
A game that holds a special place in your heart?
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It was the first game that I ever really sunk my teeth into and managed to ferret out all of it's secrets.
Least favorite video game character?
Gosh, I dunno. Fi from Skyward Sword was probably my least favorite game companion.
Favorite genres?
Puzzle games, RPGs, action-adventure, and platforming - though I'm often just frustrated by lots of old school sidescrollers.
Video game character you've had a crush on?
Balthier from Final Fantasy XII is one of the earlier ones I remember. I didn't care much for the game, but damn if he wasn't FINE.
First video game you remember playing?
This is going to sound weird, but "Pink Panther: Passport to Peril." My parents got it for me and my sister on the computer, along with other educational type games. This one though had the benefit of actually having puzzles, some amusing dialogue, and a good number of musical numbers! I'm actually amazed I remember it, because it was from before I really started gaming.
Age you started gaming?
I played games before then, but I really didn't start getting deep into games until I was about 11 or 12.
Hardest video game you've played?
I'm kind of a rage-quitter when it comes to hard games, so it's tricky to say for this. If I had to hazard a guess, I would say FTL: Faster Than Light. Rogue-likes and RTS are my bane, so the two of them combined just frustrated me to no end.
Video game you've spent the most time on?
I actually don't tend to spend a lot of time on one game, especially not now. Just from multiple replays though, I'd hazard guesses at A Link to the Past and Tales of Symphonia (two childhood favorites). I also did a lot of online play with the Halo series, with either 3 or Reach taking the top spot.
Most embarrassing gaming moment?
Playing Resident Evil 4 for the first time, when the first chainsaw started revving I immediately thought "Wow, someone outside should really get their engine checked." I didn't realize the truth until it was too late.
Scariest video game you've played?
Slender: the Eight Pages. The third run of that I did I had to actually quit the game because I was shaking so bad.
Most memorable gaming moment?
One of my fondest memories with my father was getting the original Lego Star Wars and marathoning that over a weekend together. It was an absolute blast. The second was playing Kingdom Hearts for the first time... by getting to play on my friend's save file at the final boss where I (after several attempts) was the first person who was able to beat Ansem. That felt REALLY cool.
Video game character you wish you could meet in real life?
Does Jehuty from Zone of the Enders count as a character, seeing as it has personality? I'm going to say yes.
PC, Xbox, Playstation, or Nintendo?
Playstation, mostly because the game's that tend to make it onto the platform are more often the ones that I'm into.
Gaming company you're most loyal to?
If we're going by studio, probably Naughty Dog. I more often than not greatly enjoy their games.
If you could only play one video game for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
I'm not as into dedicated gaming as I used to be. If I had to choose just one game... I'd probably prefer to just not game at all anymore.
Do you use strategy guides?
For Roleplaying and adventure games, absolutely! I hate missing out on collectibles if I can avoid it. For puzzle games though, I try to avoid them as much as I can.
How often do you use cheats?
I honestly have never really used cheats. I see the appeal, but I've never wanted to actually go out of my way to do it.
Competitive or single player?
Singleplayer, but with a strong preference for co-operative multiplayer as well. I'm not the biggest fan of competitive... I can get really sour when I start losing, and I know that.
Video game character you want to/have cosplayed?
Honestly, I think that I'd have a heck of a lot of fun cosplaying as Lloyd Irving from Tales of Symphonia. I don't know why, but I like that red outfit :3
Ever go to a video game convention?
Unfortunately no...
Hardest boss fight you've been in?
One of the earlier bosses in Tales of Symphonia. Context for that was that I was playing for my sister: she got to the fight underleveled, two of four party members dead, with no healing items and with only one character who could cast a very minor heal. Barely managed to get through that fight by the skin of my teeth under those conditions.
Video game you wish you could burn from your memory?
Virtue's Last Reward. I wish to be able to play it again with the same amount of wonder and amazement as I did the first time.
Favorite gaming series?
The Zero Escape series. Like I said, 999 and Virtues last reward are super good!
Do you skip tutorials, or find them useful?
I usually do them.
Best online gaming experience?
Geez, I don't know. I've done so little playing online that I can't think of a REALLY good one off the top of my head. Probably did Halo Reach the most though.
Worst online gaming experience?
Matchmaking for strikes in Destiny. If ONE person leaves (and they WILL) you're SoL on being able to handle the endboss if you're playing on heroic
Why do you game?
I play games because they bring to me a story that I feel like I can touch. Even if the story is "on rails" so to speak, I love having the chance to just go on the ride and interact with everything on the way there. I guess there's an escapist aspect to it for me ^^;
