I feel the same way. :c
One thing I wish would happen is the more talented artist looking at the art of people just starting out, and giving them praise and advice.
Instead, they just stick in their "circle of talent," and ignore the ones who aren't as good.
Same with non-artists tbh. The aspiring artist get little attention just because they aren't at the level of popufurs. If you encourage these people, then they'll grow into amazing artists as well! D:

I used to do that a lot. But then I had so many people asking for requests and getting mad when I would say no or call me rude, and selfish for not drawing for them. then when you stick up for yourself they try and shoot you down more! Its very frustrating. I did do that with an artist or two here on FA we had a bad falling out, but they were giving up and I persuaded them to keep going and they are getting better and better daily lol. I try my best to do that. Like when I do trades I try my best to open up to all levels or artsits. But Ido agree ith that.

Oh yes we all do. I do it as well :P but we eventually pick ourselves back up, and try again. That's one of the most important things. Like some people understand that usually when this happens, a growing part happens, where the artist practiced or trys something out of their comfort zone and develop further. But others it's not always the case. It REALLY depends, I do a lot. Sometimes its hard to believe it, or I may not FEEl like it but I do, and have. And usually so has said artist. I've had that happen a lot and a few times here as well. Yes it is very frustrating. Those are just selfish buttheads wanting nice art. You practice enough, and do freebies, you'll not only build a fan base but get lots of practice. Thats how I did it here!! No no, all open discussion here! I love hearing your guy's input. Especially on things like this :)

I try hard to have a very open mindset, mainly because I want to understand other view points on situations like this and such. Knowledge is power!!

I always think people should strive to experiment and fix things that bother them about their art. Regardless of how fans feel about it, since it's them that are doing mental jumping jacks over the little niggling in the back of their minds.

However, I also think one shouldn't be comparing themselves to others. It's a recipe for disaster. I know it's much, much easier said than done, since comparison is in human nature to gauge 'how things should be' a lot of the time. By thinking that your creation is shit and it must be even more shit because a person you look up to dislikes things about their art, is a really toxic way to go about it, most of the time. D:

If anything, I would see it as the artist being an artist who feels self-conscious and sometimes overly critical of their own style. Like most creative individuals. Like yourself.

Anything that involves critiquing can go many ways, including thinking one is untouchable, thinking that one is shit, and then seeing what you like to change about something before you start working towards that.

It's just my personal opinion, but you shouldn't let how you feel about your art depend on people you look up to. They're just like you. Just further along and still susceptible to all the things you think too.

That s very very true. Ye unfortunately it happens to us all. But it is a learning process. I know when I get like that I look and say,"Well what do I SPECIFICALLY love about their art.' Then try and develop my art further knowing those are things I adore and want to become good at as well :) But that's me. And I am okay/love critiques because it helps a lot more then most think. And that I have to thank for my Art classes lol. Yes we all are veery critical on ourselves and work. But that's also not always a bad thing. It helps push you when you really need it. BTW that's the sweetest and cutest comic EVER!!
