HELP with art block... ideas? Exercises? Anything? :(
10 years ago
God I hate hate haaattee this. I am so terrified to pick up my pencil, and I don't know WHY. I think about it, and worry a little that I just won't be able to think of anything, or anything "good", or it won't be of any help to my block, anxiety after anxiety... and then just blank.
I need a plan, or a schedule... draw this on this day, or this much in this amount of time, or something... something I can stick to. My "newest" sketchbook is seven years old and it's not even half full. ;__;
I know some people do the sketch-a-day thing, and even that sounds a bit intimidating to me. Maybe a sketch every other day? On certain days of the week? Should I pick a subject, find a random subject somehow, just copy some other art maybe?!? Ugh I have NO idea, I don't think anyone realizes how lost I feel :[
I've just, lost it... and not my inability to draw, I can still go to cons and pump out people's badge orders like nothing. But when I'm sitting with myself, there's just, nothing there.
Did fursuits burn me out?! Did life burn me out... did relationships burn me out?! :/
Well, at least MFM in a few weeks. Hopefully I will be able to dredge up some creativity there...

Its a fun lil exercise that frees your mind from worrying if it will be perfect or look right. There is no right or wrong, it promotes creativity.
Doodle whenever you feel like it.
Don't be scared of making mistakes! Be loose and flexible with everything.
If you mess up, you can easily do another.

Being loose and letting concepts grow flexible on paper will help build more solid imagery later. :)
If you ever want to bounce ideas off me for things to work on, feel free to hit me up... I have that creative mind with the eleventybillion things going on in it that could inspire maybe :) Looking forward to seeing you at Furpoc.
