I think I got my comp back rinning.
The old girl is 12 years old, so I don't know for how long. The old P4, mobo and/or AGP video card is dying for sure.
I found a few scrap parts and some zip ties and put a 200mm fan onto the side of the case. Overheating will not be an issue even in 65%RH and an 85 degree room due to not having 2 ACs in my apartment. It is nessasary but unaffordable, nor is the supply to the unit capable of running them.
Will see how this goes... This is combined with the fact I have finally moved after moving into the 21st century with a new N750 router with Cat 6e cabling.
EDIT Still freezing on me; freeze, speaker beep, black screen all over again... Its either Avira Free 2015, or fgoddamn die without -- Skype is ruining my ram. boots normal, once every 24 hours, CMOS 2038 battery Cell still reading 3.2 volts and is 2 years old. Problem running the same for six months, only since summer has it been acting this bad.
EDIT2 Soundcard harware is no longer being detected by manufacturer hardware diagnostics, there is not much else to do with a sound-card other then replace it with a PCI version which may not be around much longer, especially with XP). I will let it go and see if this does not stop continuous freezing issues - anything with multimedia is gone for now. ...until I have Koios Finished
