RPG Class Series Revisions! (Your Feedback Requested!)
I'm looking for constructive criticism on any of the character classes I've been working on. Any sort of constructive feedback is appreciated. Anatomy, design, composition, pose, color. Problem areas, areas that can be improved. If something looks awkward, or a little too silly or unrealistic. Big things, small things.
Since I want this project to maintain the same level of quality throughout, I will be going through all of the pictures in this series one at a time and revising them. These will not be submitted as new submissions, but I do plan to stream when I am working on revisions. I've been compiling a list of changes I'd like to make, but my eye alone can't catch everything. Your feedback will also help me to get a better sense of what I'm doing wrong, which will help me avoid running into the same issues in the future, and which will hopefully make the drawing process go more smoothly. (And yes, I am planning to make more character classes)
Please comment in this journal if you have a suggestion, or suggestions. I will not be responding to comments, but I appreciate all of your input greatly! I hope to express that appreciation by thoughtfully considering your comments and applying them to my work.
I will not take any of your feedback personally. I know all of my watchers support my art, and that gives me the confidence to make a request like this. Thank you.

2. Warrior: The angle of his pose makes his lower half look really small.
3. Mage: Her chest seems a bit high up, I cannot say if it is her clothing or not.
4. Archer: Not a critique more of a minor preference to archers always kind of pointing at their targets instead just holding the bow.
5. Rogue: His torso seems to wide for his overall body type. Maybe if his arms were bigger or his torso was slimmed it would look more natural.
7. Mercenary: Don't judge me, but his crotch is so wide and round...
8 & 9: All colors are flat, but their shields have a glossy sheen to them.
10. Cavalier: The position of the horse's right front leg makes it look like it is going to fall over.
15. Shadow: Flat butt.
16. Saboteur: Not a critique but some praise. I love the dynamic and lively pose she has.
18. Poet: The right hand seems empty, maybe a piece of parchment is needed?
19. Craftsman: Similar to the Rogue, I think she needs larger arms with some tone. Kind of giving her more believability as a person in that trade.
22. Water sage: The Fire Sage, Wind Sage, Earth Sage and Arcanist are well centered on their runes. If the angle on the Water Sage's rune was changed so that she could be centered on it more, it would feel more natural.
26. Hero: More praise. The stern look in his eyes with the slow, but large step advance makes him look like he is preparing to charge at someone.
28. Spellblade: One of the best detailed heads. Her face and hair are stunning. It is a good thing but it stands out from her body. Almost like her head doesn't belong on that body.
45. Ranger: Reminds me of The Goofy Movie's Roxanne.
48. Maverick: I know I have mentioned this to you before but that gun pose looks unnatural and awkward.
Thats all I could see. Im not a professional art critic by any means, but those things are what stood out to me. You can see the progression of your art. From looking back at the Novice to your latest works the improvement is very obvious and you should be proud of it. I do hope what I have said helps and if you need any elaboration, you know how to contact me.
I know you said you wouldn't take this personally, but know that I wouldn't do this if I thought you weren't capable! Like, for real! I did proofread this but feel free to note me or w/e if anything is unclear despite saying you won't respond to comments.
Besides the individual comments I make in regard to design, I'll only say that the base classes look a bit plain in color. I can see why they would be though, being that they're, you know, base classes. Alright, so one last thing before I go on. These are my opinion and my opinion can be wrong! Especially since I'm like 85% self taught on art stuff. Yeah, got it? Okay, here we go.
1. Novice
His forearm could use some slimming. The crotch of his pants looks kinda bulgy too. His legs look a little thick but I may just be nitpicking.
2. Warrior
The chest plate is pretty awesome. His legs could use some defining, like his arms look like. The arm on the right looks a bit out of place.
3. Mage
Her hips need to be a bigger, maybe slimmer torso? I'd have to sketch it out to see. xD Female anatomy, it's been a while since I've studied it. They do this weird thing near the waist that I can't find words for. I've got these two examples linkedhere andherethat may help with the waist/torso area when I mention it.
4. Archer
Her fingers holding the arrow might look better tucked into her palm likethis. I've seen photos with people holding the actual string as well. She could use bigger hips and some redefining of the crotch of her pants too. The sash going around her breasts can be a bit more rounded, looking like it's curling around her breast.
5. Rogue
Pretty good. There's something funny going on near his pecs, under the arm on the right. That shoulder/back area may need to be tucked in a bit.
6. Scholar
Can't see anything sticking out besides raising the elbow on the foreshortened arm.
7. Mercenary
I'd try slimming the forearm on the arm on the right, untuck his thumb a bit on the same arm. Maybe straighten his wrist and slightly bend the knee on the left.
8. Knight
Can't see anything that pops out in the bad way, his pose looks a bit stiff if you're being super nitpicky.
9. Magic Knight
Not bad. I'd try lowering her breast on the left a bit, maybe redo the line a bit.
10. Cavalier
The arm on the left is sticking out a bit too much, his elbow should be closer to his body, I think. Something like this. The right upper arm might be a bit too long.
11. Priest
Some slimming between her chest and waist, otherwise not bad.
12. Shaman
Neck looks a bit thick, he looks a little stiff but not bad.
13. Battle Mage
Breasts look a bit too high. Her curled wrist looks a bit uncomfortable too. As far as battle mages go, something I'm a big fan of, I dig her design.
14. Gunner
Very nice overall. I'd maybe add a line or two on his jacket to keep it from looking too flat.
15. Shadow
Pretty nice. I'd try adding some lines to define an elbow and maybe round his butt a little, not for perv reasons or anything like that. Maybe pull his thumb holding the knife back a little.
16. Saboteur
Love that pose. The arm on the left looks a little wonky just the upper arm I think. Try bringing her back in a little closer too. Her torso looks a little long too.
17. Monk
Try slimming the area above his ankles, maybe tuck in the line on the very left on his left lower leg. Try flattening the top part of his toe nails on the left foot too, maybe try erasing part of the circles on the foot on the right. Really playful pose you made there.
18. Poet
She looks like a poet, all she's missing is a scarf and some thick rimmed glasses. j/k Pretty solid, though. I'd only try bringing her back in a little on the right side. Regardless poofy pants in general have weird crotches, I've noticed. Here are acoupleofexamples.
19. Craftsman
I think you mean Craft-genderneutral, right? j/k Not bad though. Look into her crotch and bringing in the area below her breasts in a bit. Maybe slim her legs a bit.
20. Berserker
Besides enlarging the hand on the right a bit can't complain.
21. Fire Sage
Everything is wrong! Nah, pretty good!
22. Water Sage
The arm on the right looks a bit skinny. I'd slim her core a bit, maybe widen the hips. Her design is kick ass.
23. Sniper
The arrowhead looks like it's pointing a bit to the right instead of towards the viewer. The upper arm on the left could be bigger. Torso looks a little long. Out of all sniper and advanced archer classes that I've seen elsewhere this design is one I actually like.
24. Assassin
Pretty good! Nice foreshortening on the right leg.
25. Tactician
The boot on the left looks a little curvy on the left side. Good not quite Robin design.
26. Hero
I'd try shortening the line that defines the index finger a tiny bit, might define the thumb a bit more that way.
2x. Boyfriend
He doesn't look like he'd fare well in battle. I mean, yeah, brute force with those muscles would help and all but why is he the only naked one? xD
27. Guardian
Maybe lower her breastplate a tad. Design is super nice!
28. Spellblade
I'd try bringing her shoulders in a bit and widening the hips.
29. Templar
Her chest looks a bit wide. That design ain't bad!
30. Paladin
That horse looks like such a SirRob style. Like, I'd know you drew it if it was only the horse. xD As for the Paladin herself, looks good as is.
30. Bishop
His hands look a little small but he's alright overall.
31. Necromancer
She's got those hips I like to talk about. xD Nice one here though!
32. Necromancer Demons
I'd try straightening the wrist on the right for the naga, slimming the forearm on the left too. That naga torso though... Nice, diverse summons too. Maybe can use one less humanoid though? The headless one is my favorite.
33. Sorcerer
I'd try making the right side of her chest less rounded, or bring the line further up to define her breasts, raise her crotch a bit which may involve lengthening her lower legs and shortening her upper legs to keep her from looking weird. This ragged clothes on these "darker" mage classes is a really nice touch. Makes them seem more taboo.
34. Crusader
The forshortening on her upper leg looks a little off, also her crotch. Arms a bit too skinny, upper chest a tiny too wide for the slim core she has. Otherwise this is a pretty kick ass design.
35. Marksman
Besides the crotch and her hands being a little small, she looks alright. This is how someone who goes to the gun range and hunts with a revolver looks like in my head. Her design looks a bit more modern than others, not a bad thing.
36. Ninja
Nice design. Arms look a bit skinny.
36-B. Ninja Dragon
Like that traditional design. What does the scroll say, eh? What does the scroll say!? xD
37. Bandit
The hand with the bomb loooks a bit small, his wrist with the knife looks bent in an uncomfortable way. The outfit is pretty cool, especially the blue with the pattern and the tail sleeve thing. Nice one.
38. Trickster
She reminds me of... what's her face, I think Anna from FE? Her feet might be a bit small but overall she's one of my favorite.
39. Yudansha
Nitpicky me things the leg on the left is a little small, or the cloth is too tight around it compared to the other leg. Really nice one though.
40. Bard
Hrm... perfect.
41. Machinist
Design looks a bit plain but nothing I can really complain about.
41-B. Machinist Machines
Nice variety of machines. Good that the first three have color, it makes the last three look a bit more plain, I think. What if there was some that looked a bit more mobile, or are they all stationary objects? Just me thinking outloud.
42. Demon Warrior
You can see the quality of these getting better as you go on. Not bad, his wrist looks a bit weird on the left but not bad at all.
43. Wind Sage
Super nice pose. Hands could be a bit bigger, I think her torso is a bit long too, besides that this design and class idea are way up there.
44. Earth Sage
Those designs on the brown... pretty awesome. Legs look a little long but nice, solid anatomy here.
45. Ranger
Hrm, no complaints besides her pants crotch and feet looking a little small.
46. Ronin
Hrm.... hrmmmmmmmm... The hand on the left looks like it needs to be tilted more but it's a good, solid character.
47. Medic
It's funny, I read the comments that you looked at the TF2 Medic design. I first thought of the EO 1 Medic when I saw this. Can't complain here.
48. Maverick
Nice intricate gears there, very clockwork like. Besides the skinny limbs and a chest that's a bit big this is awesome.
49. Vanguard
Not bad at all. Her design may be a bit plain for a last level class though? Either way she's not bad.
50. Dark Knight
Besides his hand looking a bit small he's pretty bad ass.
51. Druid
Her upper chest could use a bit of slimming. The arm behind her back may look more natural if it were holding the staff
52. Arcanist
Nice foreshortening and colors here. The leg on the left looks a bit wobbly but this isn't bad at all. I'd totally use this class if they worked like the did in EO4.
53. Warlord
I'd try expanding her chest a bit on the right. Really nice pose overall.
