As of about 1 Am last night (which felt like 6 in the morning thanks to the jet lag) I am officially home from my trip. Having been to Europe before, this was... A learning experience among other things. I had a blast a times but I'm the only one who can speak any German between Dash and I, and he has never been abroad before so there were a lot of times where I felt like I was babysitting a bit (through no fault of his own). All in all it made for a very difficult 9 days. My main reason for going to the Austria/Bavaria area was that my host family lives near Munich and while I did get to meet with them due to some scheduling mishaps our visit only lasted for about 4 hours, and was in a very noisy/outdoor location where we couldn't talk much. The trip was kind of a bust in that respect.
Souvenirs, clothing, electronics, money... All can be replaced but the experiences we have can never be bought or regained.
And speaking of things that can never be regained... I won't elaborate here but I'm in the market for a new camera. I think I know which model/brand I want (looking for a reaaaaaaally nice point and shoot) but if there are any camera experts out there/anyone willing to help me research, send me a note with your skype info. I'd love a second opinion or some help looking for a good deal.

Personal stuff aside, I've gained about 20 watchers while this account was inactive! Welcome guys, and thank you for sticking around. I'm not sure how most of you got here, but I'm glad you did xD
I'll hopefully be starting art up again as early as today but because of the jet lag, I'm having difficulties focusing and I'm dealing with a little vertigo so I might work on personal stuff for a short while (1-2 days) so I can get back into the swing of things. I'll start up on commissions again once I'm feeling physically capable of producing the best product I can. As far as I'm aware my queue is up to date, this includes collab work and YCH's for the moment as well. If you have a pending commission with me and it's not currently on my queue, please nag me about it! Even if you know I'm working on it, I'd appreciate a reminder to put it on my list (Even if it is just to check it off again in the next few days). I really want to make sure I didn't forget anything or anyone in all the craziness leading up to our trip.
Not much else to say here besides I'm happy to be back! I'll be nice to start producing art for you guys again.
Thanks,
INK
Ultimately it's not like I didn't have fun, but the fun I did have I worked for xD
Pictures are -REALLY- important to Dash. He has lost pictures due to backup errors once, and he has never forgotten it. He's a really sentimental guy.
This trip, we had a camera with us but it's old, and his smart phone actually takes higher resolution photos. So he started using his phone to take pictures, and didn't take any on our actual camera for the last half of the trip (mistake one). He lost a few pictures because when moving them to a new folder on his phone they accidentally got stored in some temporary part of the SD card, which he had to find and relocate using one of our host's computers. At this time he did not back up the pictures on his phone (mistake #2). Just randomly in the middle of our last day sightseeing his SD card decided to just totally break (it's physically fine but can no longer be read or recognized by any devices--PC, Mac, Linux, Phone, etc). All of the pictures from the camera are fine, but with his SD card totally shot, we lost about half of the pictures (and all of the good, high resolution ones) from his first trip Europe which is pretty much the most devastating thing that could have happened to him, save breaking a limb and going to the hospital or something.
SOOOO Since there's nothing that I can personally do to recover the data and it looks like recovery programs and other attempts to read the card have been unsuccessful, my solution to the problem is to use the money I had raised for souvenirs to buy him a new, nice and high res point and shoot (my mom purchased one a few years ago that's really great, it was about $650 at the time) to replace his old camera. Not only will this hopefully remedy his unhappiness about the trip a bit, but it will in the future allow him to have a nicer camera so he doesn't have to use his phone. I know it's not a total solution, but I've been considering getting a new camera for quite some time, so I think now is probably right.
How intense have smartphone cameras gotten lately?? I have a pretty old phone so it gets the job done but it's not amazing or anything heh.
Also if you enable cloud backup of your photos through iCloud or Google Photos or some other service then it doesn't matter if your camera gets eaten because all your stuff will be saved.
I did have a lot of new experiences and a lot of great moments while on the trip, so we definitely made the best of it shortcomings aside. And besides, several years down the road it's the good things you remember better, not the bad :) So I'm looking forward to those rose tinted glasses, so to speak.
I'll repeat what Dash has said time and time again since we arrived back: The next vacation we go on will be somewhere in the states with a beach xD
