I wanna know!

Well some good examples, lore wise in books and real life are : The Battle of Helms Deep, The Alamo, Battle of Iwo Jima( Japanese Side). Where it is almost 100% assured you are going to lose but you are stil fighting for your beliefs till the last man. Except for Helms deep but up until being saved it was a lost cause XD.

There is just something so..."romantic" about battles like that. But then again war itself has been romanticized in the media/games/whatever.
