well, if you have the space and the knowledge/money, you could use some aurdinos and a rotating mechanism in your head. you can program the arduino to do whatever you want. there's lots of options out there you could try, or you could get a maker familiar with setting up mechanisms in your head.

That's the best I could come up with, too. But I do not have the knowhow. I am willing to commission somebody to do it, but I can't figure out where I would find people who are able to do it.. to commission them.

 tioh has a tutorial on his website. Then there's plenty of tutorials on instructables as well as a really good arduino webinar at the Stan Winston School website. They are simple enough to make and more durable considering you can choose the servos and what not to make them out of as well as how you mount them. You might want to consider cables at some point.

 themurriday is really good with animatronics and arduinos. He could probably talk you through building a set at the least

 Coyoroo has been known to offer them with his suits including some that are sound activated movement though I don't know how easy he is to get in contact with I've only had one successful reply from him though that could be a web error

 KaiborgStudios is one I'm almost positive you could possibly commission for the ears. I recommend checking them out. They're responsable for that robot creature fursuit that looks a bit Daftpunkesk with the sort of 8bit eyes and mouth that can change at their will.
