So this happened...
Ok, so until just an hour ago I was super excited about my Patreon. I had just reached over 800$ in pledges and I was ready to expand and start dedicating more time to it.
Then I noticed that about a third of my patrons(especially the ones who pledged more) had their pledges declined. Then I noticed that all of these people had generic names and emails. They, basically, fake pledged so they could have access to the material for this month and then they bailed out at the end, leaving me with a total of 200$ in pledges.
So, yeah, I'm extremely disapointed and angry. And I know that these people heard of my Patreon either through furaffinity or inkbunny, which means that they're also my "fans".
So, if they wanted me to feel like shit, congrats. I do. I don't usually talk about this, but I have a serious medical condition and I was really counting on that money.
I don't know how I'm going to deal with this whole situation. I don't know if I'm gonna go through with my Patreon anymore. I don't know if I'm gonna keep on posting stuff here either. I'm really bummed out right now.
I wish I could be polite about this whole situation, but there's so much I can take. So if you were one of the fake patrons, I really hope you fucking die. You took the little hope I had and smashed it, you cunt. I hope everything bad that can happen to you do so.
Anyway, that's it. I don't know how things are gonna be from here on. I'll keep you guys informed.

FA+

And since that you were being ripped off from your pledges, does that mean all the content they got could be leaked somewhere else for people to see?
but the question is, since this is a thing, and if it starts to get heard of, then patreon is surely to fail.... And things go back to where they were again? I don't know, patreon must likely patch this issue if it gets to out of control.
good job shit faces.
If you have a reliable $200 income from Patreon now I guess it's up to you to decide how you want to handle that now.
I dunno whether to trust that site much anymore just cause of this constant crap I hear about it. Honestly mate I'm rooting for you and hopefully you'll come to a wise conclusion soon
*hugs*
I would not advise going to the extremes
The sad truth is some people don't like paying for exclusive content. What makes this worse is you were actually being smart and having it be early access, as well as stuff that can't even be pirated, like patron exclusive ability to give you suggestions and such, that the latter of which can't even be pirated.
In the end, this sounds like some major trolling if they bloated it to that much. I'm glad you did get over 200 bucks for the first month at least,
Don't give in. With luck you'll eventually start making that amount, maybe more.
Many people are taking to blocking "faketreons" as I call them.
Also, looking above, this isn't a furry thing. Some of the Patreons didn't have anything to do with furry.
I don't know why people still micro-troll by saying things like that.
Also, I don't know if this would help or anything, but I totally do hosting for people wanting to run stores for like image packs and the like. You might be able to do comics that way? Hit me up if you'd like to discuss it.
I know you're wary of everyone right now but, I want you to know that you do have fans
even those who can't support you with money love your art and I actually think you're fun to watch! :3
So, do whatever you judge best to do but don't let trolls get you :(
And you just found out WHY it wasn't designed as a paywall.
Especially the part of "please don't be a FaF." That was some hilariously absurd bullshit. He didn't even throw the fit because people faked pledges, it was because people reposted stuff. Again, its not a paywall service, so throwing a MASSIVE fit, demanding massive payments up front, individually monitoring what is sent to individuals so you can dox them (publically) for any leaks, etc, was stupid and violated numerous TOSes.
...I'd like to believe none of these people are not actual artists, because we do know how much work and effort go into each piece, and we just simply don't screw with one another because we wouldn't wish it upon ourselves.
...I sincerely hope Patreon will start perma-IP bans soon, to nip this in the bud.
Or like... simply force the first donation upon pledging it. Then cycling on a 30 day timer... that's not too hard to script up...
Hope you feel better...
Please never forget that we're not all scumbags.
I may not be a pledger at the moment, but I appreciate your work and enjoy looking over your styling and ideas.
Try not to let these idiots get you down.
Personally, I wouldn't drop the Patreon because it shows me that you did have a decent nymber of legit backers, but what I would caution is, don't get too excited until the money shows up.
It's a sick game, but that's the nature of porn. Everyone on the internet wants it free. The people who are backing you aren't doing it for the porn, they're doing it for you.
Patreon is treated by some as easy money, and by others as an exploitative paywall. Those that resent the monetization of their favorite hobby/free porn will be willing to cheat to get it and feel all the more righteous to be stickin'-it to "greedy" artists.
The Patreon bubble is bursting due to the poor way many artists have chosen to use it and the entitled resentment of fans who feel they are being exploited. This leads to crusaders who feel justified and righteous cheating the system to get what is being held back.
Anyhow glad to hear you are feeling a bit better now based on the newer journal. I know plenty of artists that can't even break $100 or even $50 on their first month so you definitely got people's attention. Hopefully that means there will be steady growth. :3
